you're not missing much. I think FB has made it *almost* obsolete.
You're definitely not alone in your opinion but I never really saw FB as replacing a message board at all because the format is very different. I get the idea for pic sharing, but for general chatting, asking for kitchen remodeling advice, or getting a doctor recommendation, etc. I would turn to a message board first.

I'm not sure if I'm an "old schooler" but I joined LIW in 2003 - I don't remember my original name something like nov04bride....I was also on GT for awhile, but not sure when or why I stopped posting there.

I joined LIW in January 2000...got married in 2002.... I was Val R. on LIW! not at all an active poster...but a very active reader!!

I also have a lot of pics from various GTG's including that one. If anyone who was involved wants to see them, FM me as well and I will make an album to link to. I have dig out my external drive and upload them but I can find them.
Anyone with pics, please don't post any pics here. I don't post pics of my kids on public boards anymore. (no offense to LIF, I don't do it anywhere)

But I was never on LIW...was married in 1998 (pre-historic times) and only owned a word processor.

could not resist, read about the post and had to come on in to say hello. I was on LIW from 3/02, got married 8/03. My screen name was hmichick :) I was actually at the Umbertos GTG too, Noreen I think I was sitting right near you. I didnt even know this site was still around, just dropped by to say hello to all the "familiar" names.
