cat scratching
how do you stop a cat from scrathing the furniture and other items in the house. My cats are already up there in age, and i don't know if I could train them this late and would work. Any suggestions or products that could deter them from this habilt.
thanks.

All I can say is Double stick tape works wonders. You can get it at your local hardware store.

Re: cat scratching
A scratching post is supposed to keep them from scratching anything else. It worked for us but the vet told us to get one right at the beginning. I'm not sure if you can train them to use one now if it's been a while. Did the scratching just start recently?

Re: cat scratching
no they have been doing it. I think i will try and get some scratching posts and put it near the places they like to scratch. Also, will try a water bottle.
Thanks for all of the advice.

Re: cat scratching
Mine scratches, but I'm too lazy to do anything. However, spraying water in his face works wonders when he's being "bad". They also sell a spray that you put on the furniture that makes them not want to scratch. And if you have the time, you could always re-direct them to a proper scratching place...again, I'm lazy.
