Need recommendation for a lawyer to do a Will for myself and DH

Valerie Shivers is a vendor on here and I am in the process of using her at the moment and she is great so I would definitely recommend her.

we did our own on legalzoom.com. It was easy. very cut and dry since we knew what we wanted.

we did our own on legalzoom.com. It was easy. very cut and dry since we knew what we wanted.
I have thought about that, but does that hold up just as well as one done with an actual lawyer?

it was about $1000 for will, health care proxys, guardianships, etc. THe whole bang...you are right that wills from legal zoom may not hold up and are easy to be contested.

oofah!!! That is a lot of $$! I thought it was going to be around $300 or so

We set up a will, living will, health care proxy, etc with Paul Killian. His office changed from Miller Place since we last saw him, but I believe he moved to two offices. One near center moriches and one closer to nassau.
His number is 631-642-2588.
We highly recommend him! He's been a family lawyer for 3 generations, dealt with the estates for 2 of DH's grandmother's and he's only in his 40s. He also was our lawyer during our house negotiation process.

I am Valerie Shivers - both a vendor on this site and an active member. I am actually 26 weeks pregnant and post on the "pregnancy boards". I cannot stress the importance of setting up a Will the moment you have a child.
Fees for a simple Will, Health Care Proxy, Power of Attorney and Living Will vary depending on each individual's needs (generally anywhere from 300 - 1500). I do however offer free consultations and am more than happy to answer any LIFer's questions 
FYI - beware of legal zoom and similar sites - while sometimes you may be able to achieve what you are looking to do with a "simple" form, it's always better to discuss your individual situation with a professional to make sure all of your needs have been met.

I work for a firm in Riverhead. We are not that inexpensive however, but do have a whole estates/wills department.
