kindergarten and school bus?
DS is starting kindergarten this september and will be taking the bus. our district does not have door to door buses. he will be dropped off at the top of our street.
i plan on having someone meet him at the stop but what if they are late. will the driver let him off the bus no matter what?

They are not allowed to let a kindergartener off the bus without a parent there. My Mom was a school bus driver and according to her(not sure if it is actually a law) She was not allowed to let K & 1st grade students off w/o a parent.

My DS was in K last year. His particular school route (private school) picked up and dropped off at our house and I still had to be there to get him off or they wouldn't let him off the bus! District policy for all K students!

My sitter forgot my son one day in Kindergarten. The bus driver wouldn't let him off and drove him back to the school. He was SO distraught!
We arranged for my neighbor to have permissions to take him off the bus and bring him to her house if we couldn't get him for some reason going forward.
Happened to my nephew this year too. My sister was late to the bus stop and missed the drop off. The bus driver was so nice that she actually looped back around before going to the school because she knew where he lived and my sister was able to get him. He was just so upset though!

The bus driver will bring the child back to the school if a designated adult isn't there. Happened to DS.
Doesn't have to be a parent, just a designated adult.

in our school district, the policy is K and 1st grade cannot be let off the bus without an approved adult there. So we had to have a list of who was approved to get my DD off the bus.

same with us - no adult - no drop off.
DH picks him up at the busstop, but once a week my mom does and DH introduced my mom to the bus driver and that was enough.

Same as everyone else except that even though our stop was on the corner she dropped him off in front of our house. So maybe you will get lucky.
