How to?
How do I get my 3 year old to stop sleeping in my bed?

Re: How to?
Why isn't she sleeping in her bed? Is it that she's scared? or preference?
We instituted the rule that if she wanted to wear a dress to school, she had to sleep in her own bed. If she woke up in our bed, she wore pants.

Re: How to?
She says that sometimes she is scared. And sometimes she just rather sleep with me.she likes to be close to and hold my hand.So I guess for comfort.

Re: How to?
Does she start off in your bed? Or does she come into your bed during the night? Has she always done this? or is it recent?

Re: How to?
She actually starts off in the living room then I put her into bed then she sleeps for a couple of hours then she wakes up and climbs into my bed until I feel her in bed then I try and put her back in her bad and she cries for like 2 hours then goes back to bed.

Re: How to?
You can tell her that starting tonight, she has to stay in her bed. When she comes in to your bed, give her a kiss & have her go back to her bed.
If you keep it up, eventually they won't get out of bed. My son realized it wasn't worth the walk if he was being sent back.
It's about being consistent & strong more than anything else. It's very, very easy to have them crawl into bed - plus to be honest, we love snuggling in this house. We allow it in the mornings & when they're sick but otherwise they're in their own beds. One of the greatest gifts you can give her is for her to feel comfortable in her own bed & sleeping alone.
If all else fails, consider this - it's not forever. Eventually she'll be an older, grumpier teenager who will want you to walk 15 feet away from her when her friends are near.

Re: How to?
No advice but my DS has been like this since 2. He will be 5 in May. He is very very scared to sleep alone. He has nightmares and hates noises of any kind.
We have just decided that we are ok with him being in our room. We figured it won't be like this forever. We have a fold away cot in our room that he sleeps in. I won't have him in our bed.

Re: How to?
My advice is to make her fall asleep in her bed. The tell her to return to bed. I agree with previous poster about being firm. So far i worked with my dd, but with my son it never did. I was sleep deprived until he was 4 when my pediatrician told me to give up. My son has a sleep disorder...like me.

Re: How to?
It would be nice to be firm but I'm sleeping and don't always realize she comes into the bed.The only time I realize she is there is when she starts kicking or hitting me in her sleep. Then i put her back in bed and then an hour later she comes back in.
