Spinoff: Negative Urine Test, but positive blood?

TTCer crashing,....

I was reading the other post. So it does happen that you can get a negative urine test but a positive blood test? I have hope!

you can if you are very early. a blood test will show any level of hcg (I believe anything 5+ is considered pregnant) but most pee sticks will only show a positive if your hcg level is 10, 25 or 50 depending on the sensitivity of the test

yes it happen to me. I went to the doctor for dizziness & she did a pee test in the office came up Neg. Then she sent me for bloodwork to figure out why I was having the dizziness & sure enough I WAS pregnant. !!

The 1st time I got p/g i had lots of neg urine tests and was shocked when the blood came back positive.

i had negative HPTs and then my blood beta came back positive but really low. it was a chemical pregnancy.

Very possible...... if AF is late.

I got a negative HPT the day AF was due..but got a BFP (w/urine test) when it was 4 days late.

Like the other girls said, some HPT's don't detect HCG levels below a certain point.

Best bet is take another test once AF is late, if its STILL negative, go in for blood test.

yes this happened to me too. it was just very early and the urine test at the dr was less sensitive than the home test and of course the blood test. unfortunately they did not tell me that at the dr - all they told me was that i was not pregnant when in fact i was. it was very frustrating.
