Preschooler and LONG flights to Europe

Did anyone took their 3+ yo on long flights? Like 7.5-8 hours.

DC cannot really stand still passed 2 hours. Has a tendency to be "loud". I am not sure the DVD will last more than 2 hours.

I know it would be easier on way there since we would take an overnight flight and arrive in the morning.

The return back would be a nightmare, I think.

Am I nuts to even think about doing this with a special needs kid?

Should I buy a 4th seat so DC has room to sleep?

I would try to fly during the night so that DC could sleep on the plane.

I have friends who have done this with positive experiences.

Yes definitely fly during the night. My DD slept the whole ride (we went to Italy).

I have friends who have flown to Asia with their little ones and they said the flights weren't that bad. They were night flights.

Then again, when I flew to India at age 29, I b#@$# and moaned the entire time. lol
