I'm curious about this also. She only has two bottom teeth, I'm scared to give her anything besides what you mentioned. Chat Icon

Thomas is finally just "getting" puffs. Today was the first time he opened his mouth and let me give him one. Now to do it on his own. Yesterday he started gnawing in a piece of italian bread- he loved it Chat Icon

Shredded cheese, it will melt in their mouth.

DD has no teeth and she mashes it with her gums.

Thought you arent recommended to give cheese bc it is aged?

I've never heard that before. At 6 months appt's for both my kids, the peds asked if I had given cheese yet, when I said no, they told me to. I wouldn't give blue cheese or anything like that, but shredded mozz or cheddar, I would.

You can also give yogurt, and lately DD gets small pieces of bread to gum down.

I broke them in half at first, but she quickly started eating them whole. I still watch her like a hawk though, bc every once and a while she'll get it stuck on her tongue and doesn't know what to do.

Re: What fingerfoods did you start with?

Another food besides the above:
Grapes..I would peel the skin and cut into cheerio size shapes
watermelon, bananas, peaches, apples...all did the same thing!
toast, cheese,
peas, I would sweeze it and give the outside in the very beginning - so to not give the "tough" skin

Re: What fingerfoods did you start with?

I'm doing baby led weaning so i've only given finger/table food. So far we've done avocado, banana, sweet potato, zucchini, broccoli, and pears. I give the broccoli and banana to DS whole, and everything is given in large chunks (usually cut into quarters).

ETA: I've also given brown rice and linguine

Re: What fingerfoods did you start with?

DS is 7 months. So far he has had american cheese, mozzarella cheese, pieces of bread and bagel, macaroni w. cheese & w. sauce, rice, slightly mashed beans, puffs, yogurt melts, peas, steamed carrots, green beans, banana.

I try to give him everything I am having. If I get it in small pieces and its soft enough to mash up I give it to him.
