Mission Wean Reflux Meds-FAIL
Sienna turned 11 months on Tuesday (I will post pics in the next few days ) and the week before, she had an appointment with a GI here in NY. Due to her age, she wanted to try to wean her off her night dose of Nexium. She was on 10mg in the am, 5 at night, and Pepcid twice a day.
Well, we gave it a week and she is most definitely not ready. She started crying, squirming, arching and refusing food during meals. She would keep crying until she spit up and then she would go about her day. Her drooling (a big symptom) started getting worse by the day again as well.
We restarted her night dose Monday. I just feel so bad for her. I know soon enough she will be off of it. I just feel bad for my little princess.

Re: Mission Wean Reflux Meds-FAIL
They tried with Alexa at 6 months, epic fail. Again at 12 months, another fail. I said forget it. Lets wait until she has been walking a good 3 months, at this point their esophagus has elongated enough it may work. She started walking at 15 months and at 18 months we weaned off completely.
Give it time mama!

Re: Mission Wean Reflux Meds-FAIL
We went through the same thing with DS. He is now 15 months old and his only get 1ML of Axid at night. That is the worst time for him. He was on it 3 times a day forever. By 10 months I had him down to 2 doses. The pedi said to start weaning him off the last dose at his 15 month visit and I am working on it. I am now giving it to him every other night...I would try and cut out a dose during the day and see how that goes...Or decrease it...I feel your pain.

Maybe I will suggest the same thing to the GI. I just don't want to make Sienna suffer and play with weaning every time we are there. At this point, I would rather try again in 3-4 months, considering she just started standing and cruising at 10 months.

We couldn't wean my son until 15 months. It will happen! Don't worry.

Poor Sienna! She will get there, but I know it's hard to deal with.
