So this will be the first birthday with out my father...
I thought it would get better...I really did. In some ways, it has. In some ways it hasn't. This is really just a long rambling to help sort through some of it and I hope it has some therapeutic healing for me.
April will be one year. One year. This is the first time I won't receive a card in the mail with his oversize script wishing me a birthday. It won't be signed Love Always..Dad. I won't get home to a message sharing that same message. Last January was the last time he was able to say "Happy Birthday" to me. I knew then it would be the last time but it didn't really register.
Strange things bring on the emotions. This is brought on by putting soda in the refrigerator because it's Stop & Shop brand and that is where he worked (and LOVED his job) until he went into the hospital.
I just really really miss my dad...I miss him so much. I just want to hug him one last time and tell him how much I love him and how much he has shaped me. Okay...I have to stop crying before my DH finds me. Thanks for reading this.

Awe, I am so sory. I know how you feel. For me it has been over 4 years, 5 in August, and yet I cry every day. He is the last thought of my day wehn I get into bed and the first when I wake up. It sucks. I don't fully enjoy life anymore even though I try for DH and my kids and my poor, lonely Mom who I also am sick with worry over.. Sad for her, losing the love of her life. Anyway, i know what you are feeling. For one last hug, one last kiss and cuddle. It breaks my heart... But, I also know they are with us.. Watching over us as we try to go about our lives and bring some normalcy back... I am here to talk, if you ever need it. Iam so sorry and I know completely how you feel. I know your pain. Denise
