Please send some supportive thoughts...
to my good friend Lauren and her husband Barrie. They are bringing their cat to the vet tomorrow because it's time to say goodbye... Lauren has had her cat, Piper for 9 1/2 years and is very recently married, they found out just a short while before their December wedding that Piper had a tumor in his stomach that was almost definitely cancer. They've brought him to the vet every several weeks for steroid shots but they always knew it was just a temporary relief for him and that it would be a short-term fix.
Well, he's been getting sicker and sicker is no longer enjoying life, and now it's definitely time, but of course she's having a hard time with it. Her husband has of course grown attached to him too and loves him and I'm sure tomorrow is going to be a very hard day for them. Please send your thoughts and prayers their way as they deal with their loss, and especially for Lauren that she can get through this and be able to focus for the bar exam which she's taking in 2 weeks.

I know, I thought of you as I was writing it out. For your case, you should know that they told her he had about 2 weeks left at one point and he survived 2 months. I'm sure your Helmut has many good days ahead of him. This was a tumor in Piper's stomach which made it harder to leave in there for a longer period of time
