Question
My best friend just got married last month and found out she is pregnant. Not planned but extremely excited. They just bought a house and are very happy to start a family. The problem is that she is spotting. The doctor took blood and said it was too soon to tell. She is going back tomorrow for more blood tests. I want to tell her everything will be okay but I'm not sure. She said it is very light spotting but its been about 5 days of it. Do you girls have any stories similar to this with positive outcomes for me to forward to her or is it unfortunetly a sad ending for her? Thanks girls.

Re: Question
its not necessarily bad news. Spotting is very common early on, and some women even spot throughout their pregnancy.
The blood tests will give a better indication of whats going on. I hope it all works out.

Re: Question
Is the spotting brown, pink or red? Is there clots?

Re: Question
Brown is OK. It's old blood. Really there is nothing she can do except stay hydrated, don't lift anything heavy, and relax. She could ask her Dr to test her progesterone and her beta levels to see what is going on. Beta's have to be checked once then skip a day then go the next day to make sur ethe levels are about double

Re: Question
I spotted in the beginning of my pregnancy. I was freaking out. Turned out everything was ok and it was old blood. I am now 27 weeks. I hope everything turns out ok for her.

Re: Question
My SIL had a hematoma behind the baby that caused spotting until her 12wk. She is doing great- the hematoma is now gone and no more spotting- so it doesn't mean its bad

Re: Question
I spotted too in the begining when I was pg with Alex. It was a light pink spotting. I think mine was due to over doing it. I was about 5 weeks and we were in Switzerland and doing a lot of hiking. Nothing to strenuous but I rested for a few days and everything was fine.

Re: Question
I also spotted everyday from week 5 to week 10. They never found out what caused it but thankfully I'm in week 13 and everything still looks good.
They did test my progesterone and beta, put me on pelvic and modified bed rest. They also did a weekly sono to make sure there was still a heartbeat.
Best of luck to your friend.
