Cold-Turkey - Ditching the binkie!!!

We did it!

Gianna is just over 2 years old (turned 2 in January), and she's a complete and utter binkie addict.

Today was the day... I told her that Santa took the binkies and gave them to all the little babies (lol), and she bought it. She even retold the story a few times today and made a face saying, "no. no binkies. santa took them."

Fast forward to two hours ago... what a nightmare! I knew bedtime would be the clincher. She screamed for 45 minutes straight (good 'ole cry it out, once again), and fell asleep.

Please please tell me this will get easier!

Any experiences with ditching the binkie cold turkey? I know there's no turning back now, otherwise I'll be setting MAJOR precedents with not following through with things.

Of course my mother thinks, "she's still a baby - she's way too young to take the binkie away from her." I think she's on the older side...

Thoughts?

Re: Cold-Turkey - Ditching the binkie!!!

I think 2 is a good age...

we did at 18 mos cold turkey w/DS, 1st night screamed for like 1/2 hr, 2nd day nap screamed for like 20mins, 2nd night cried for like 5-10 mins, 3rd day napped fine, 3rd night went down fine. It wasnt bad at all.

Now, w/DD, she just turned two and we've been limiting it only to sleeping. I'm ready to take it away at night now..i'l probalby be doing it very soon and praying it will go just as smoothly ...she is a lot more stubborn than DS!
