Sorry If TMI
Ok, so I have been REALLY sick the past 2 months. I've had strep throat twice, 2 ear infections, and a sinus infection. I have been on 3 antibiotics in a 7 week time frame. Not good, I know. After the 2nd time on antibiotics, I got a yeast infection from all of the medication. I used Monistat and it went away. Well now I have another yeast infection (2 weeks since the first one) b/c I am on antibiotics again. These are the ONLY 2 times I've EVER had these infections..they're horrible.
My question is do you think I can just call the doctor and ask for them to call in a Diflucan prescription to my pharmacy or will I actually have to go there?

Honestly, I think it depends on your doctor - some will make you come in no matter what. Last time I was on antibiotics my doc told me to take a probiotic pill to prevent a yeast infection. I don't know if it's too late for that now, but maybe worth a shot.
Hope you feel better soon.

antibiotics cause yeast infections. Dr's will always say to eat yogurt when on antiobiotics to help prevent the yeast infections.
I am prone to YI when on meds but hate yogurt so I will take acidophilus instead. It's a pill taken orally that has the same cultures as yogurt that prevent the yeast infections. I usually just take 1 a day the same time I take the antiobiotic.
feel better!

Aww, hon, pray you feel better soon!!!! Believe me, I feel your pain!!!! I've had repeated UTI's since 2007, and have been on a ton of antibiotics, and am currently on an antibiotic. Mary

Re: Sorry If TMI
I'm prone to YIs so my doctor basically keeps refills available for me on diflucan all the time. If you have a good relationship with your doc it shouldn't be too hard to get them to call it in!! I feel your pain, feel better!

Re: Sorry If TMI
Thanks for all of your replies girls! How long does it take for Diflucan to start working and easing the symptoms? Is it better than Monistat? Like I said, I used that last time (the 3 ovules) but it was annoying & icky!
