stairway railings
We recently bought a house and we need to get new stair railings. I want to get wood. Do you guys know of any where to go or anyone who does this? Thanks!

Re: stairway railings
We used Golden Oak on Sunrise Highway in Bellmore and I love them! They did a beautiful (and very neat) job.

Were they very expensive? I'm going to try to get over there though I'm not sure when. I live in Holbrook, so it's a bit of a drive. Thanks so much for the help though. I appreciate it.

Re: stairway railings
We had 3 companies in to give us estimates. They will bring pictures of past work and samples of the spindles and finish, so you don't need to visit the store.
I didn't realize that the other 2 were more carpenters/craftsmen and were going to create a "custom" look for more than twice the price. We went with Golden Oak since the price was more in line with our budget. They had done some work in our neighbor's house a few years back, so we went and checked it out and it was still really sturdy so we felt confident in their work.
HTH!
