Looking for a Home in East Meadow
Myself and my husband moved in with my mother in law last may to help her out since her husband passed away in 2006. Since then she has decided to sell her home. We now have to look for a two bedroom apartment in east meadow since my son is going to preschool in east meadow and we must stay in the school district in order for him to remain in his preschool. I am upset that we have to up our lives again. I know it will take time to sell the house but I need to start looking now. Does anyone know of anyone having an apt to rent, we dont have the money right now for a house downpayment. Thanks everyone!!

Re: Looking for a Home in East Meadow
Sorry that you have to move again. I know it's stressful.
I work in North Bellmore, so my office gets a lot of rental listings in East Meadow. I don't know if you are trying to avoid paying a realtor fee (the equivalent of one month's rent), but if you are open to working with a realtor, I can definitely help you. You can contact me by FM or call or email me (my info is in the business directory) to discuss your criteria (I'd need to know your budget, whether you have any pets, etc.).
Also, I don't know if the house is already listed, but I'd be happy to meet with your mother-in-law and you and your dh to discuss the sale of her home and the services I provide.
Are you prepared to move before the house is sold? In other words, if you start looking now, could you jump on a place if you find something? As you probably know, most landlords are lookiing to get a renter in asap, or at least by the first of the next month. If not, you may want to wait until your moving date gets closer.
Finally, have you looked at the cost of renting versus buying? I know you said you don't have enough for a down payment, but for an FHA mortgage, you only need 3.5% down (some people don't know that). With interest rates being so low, it may make more financial sense for you to buy instead of rent, if it's feasible. If you need recommendations for a mortgage professional, just let me know and I can give you a few names of people you can consult with.
Good luck! Christine
