Extreme Coupon Show
I just saw it last night I don't get how they do it a $600 grocery bill for $2?
Do the stores let you use more than one coupon per item? I didn't know you could do that, I thought for sure stores would limit you...

Re: Extreme Coupon Show
i just saw this show for the first time yesterday too! i am amazed by these people! i think they wait for items to go on sale for like $1.50 and if they have a coupon for $1.50 off... FREE! thats my only guess. i wanna learn how they do this (without dumpster diving) and save all that money. and maybe not the quantities that they buy it in as well. i seriously dont have the room for 50 boxes of barilla pasta....

This isn't realistic.
These people have a sickness similar to hoarding.. it's an obssession..
They spent countless hours clipping and scouring coupons.. and they spend hours at the store.. These people also pay for some of their coupons..
I'm a big couponer and save roughly 50% off my bill at the store but these people go overboard!

Re: Extreme Coupon Show
There are many websites that can teach you how to do this. Afullcup.com is one that I use. I have been extreme couponing for about 6 months now. I never pay anything at cvs or rite aid. I come home with tons of stuff. With drug stores its a combo of coupons and thier rewards programs. As far as the show, the first girl and the guy are part of the website weusecoupons.com. They have said that the buys they did were all planned and all the items were pre ordered. In some states you can use as many multiple coupons as you want. They matched the sales and pre ordered the coupons online. This is not typical of extreme couponing. I shop at king kullen where they double $1 coupons up to 5 of them. Anything under$1 is unlimited. The only bad thing is you can only use 2 like coupons, so I end up making multiple trips for really good deals. A good deal to me is .50 and under after coupons. I spend about 1 hour a week planning my trips and I haven't paid more then $40 for a cart full of grocerys. I usually save at least 70%. Most of the money I go spend is on fresh items such as meat, milk and produce. We eat very healthy if. There are tons of coupons for healthy items as well.

Re: Extreme Coupon Show
it depends on the store and the volume of coupons you have. We got alot of $1 off coupons and king kullen doubles them- up to like 4 or 6 i think. so if the item is under $2 its free.
most bottles of soda, dental floss, toothbrushes, toothpaste are usually free for us.
The show isn't a reality as to what you can get because you have to have access to all of those coupons and the reality of it is, you dont.

The first girl Amanda and the guy are part of weusecoupons.com. They both said tlc pretty much set them up and made them seem like hoarders. Took conversations out of content. They said most of what they got was donated. This show did so well there is a 6 episode series in the works with new people.

Re: Extreme Coupon Show
yes, it can be done!
do i want to do it? heck yes!!
do i have the time for it? heck no!!
since i started couponing, last year, i've been able to save a LOT of money. i've been able to use that saved money to solve problems in my life, etc. so couponing ROCKS in my book!
the people who save that much money spend A WHOLE LOT of time working their plan. it includes planning the trips (finding out what coupons are out, which ones are coming out, which sales are going on, and which sales will be going on). if they don't have enough of the coupon for the item they want, they will trade or buy coupons online (something to consider. a lot of these free items are not really free. there is an initial investment)
as far as the store limiting the coupons, yes! many stores limit coupons in different ways. that means that these people are doing multiple transactions. again, another aspect that takes up a lot of your time.
this is definitely not for everyone. kudos to them for sticking with it for the sake of the money saved! there are times i wish i was a SAHM so that i can spend more time working the deals lol

You can only use 1 coupon per item. If you want to use 2 coupons, you have to buy 2 items. Let's say pasta is on sale for$1. You have a coupon for .50 . King kullen will double that coupon to $1 which makes it free. If you have 2 coupons you get 2 for free.

Re: Extreme Coupon Show
I use coupons all the time. I never pay for tooth paste, floss, tooth brushes. I go to cvs and between the Extra care bucks and coupons. I sometimes even make money towards other purchases. It's great. Afullcup.com is so helpful for those starting out. It is super confusing at first, but it gets easier.
THe procter and gamble coupon inserts come in the Sunday paper. I usually buy two. King kullen doubles dollar coupons. Most of the cleaning products can be close to free when king kullen has them on sale.
Kmart has double weeks. Look for the advertisement. They will double your 2 dollar coupons, dollar coupons...whatever. So I save my diaper and wipe coupons for that!
I was thinking of applying for the show. I heard that they make you look dif then you really are, so I didn't want that. Any questions feel free to fm or ask.
I saved about 3k last year.

It is true. They should have made the show a little bit more realistic. I don't know anyone who has all that time. IMO it wouldnt be worth it.
Afullcup.com lays it all out for me, all I have to do is cut and go. I spend maybe an hour a week searching the circulars and and hour on afullcup.com So total 2 hours and I save AT least 100 dollars a week on just groceries alone. I take the money I save and put it in DD college fund. So it gives me more of an incentive to do it.

Yep. ITA. Although its impressive it is def. a sickness. These people live for this. This is what they do. They dedicate their lives to this. Trust me, I looove saving money and using coupons. I am known as the "coupon lady" in my family but what these people do in these shows is beyond obsession.
