So this week
I was SICK. Like S.I.C.KKKK. Nauseous, puking, fever, headache - from Sunday until like last night. I just ate real food for the first time in days.
And do you know what my first thought was on Sunday? How the HELL would I be able to take care of a kid like this?
I have no idea how my mom friends do it or how my own mom did it. I truly don't.
What's ridic - telling one of my friends what was wrong with me and her diagnosis "Are you pregnant?" I will puke on YOU, shut up!! (No, I'm not PG)

Re: So this week
It's the mom magic. I swear they are super human. And I hate that any slight symptom and that's it- you're automatically prego.
I'm tired, you're pregnant. I'm hungry, you're pregnant. My feet hurt, you're pregnant. ENOUGH!
Anyway, hope you're feeling better!

Re: So this week
Yeah, I don't remember my mom ever having more than a slight cold. She only took a sick day if one of us was sick.
She used to tell me that there wasn't enough time to be sick & it kind of worked--I think she talked her self out of being sick, too.

Something just kicks starts in you. I hate blood and I remember when one of my SD's was gushing and I was the only one with her... I was so calm and later she said "I cant believe how calm you were". Little did she know I was shitting one of these:

I don't think I have the energy to take care of a kid(s) when I'm healthy.... definitely can't imagine it when I'm feeling like crap & puking all night. Totally can't even imagine.

I don't remember my Mom or my Dad being so sick they couldn't take care of us, although it probably happened and I was unaware.

Re: So this week
I was so sick last week, Wednesday/Thursday. Horrible stomach virus that my sister & I caught from my niece. It was awful. The worst where the flu like pains in my legs that prevented me from walking for two days. Thats when I made a comment like, Oh my how would I be able to take care of a kid being this sick. This is my biggest fear when suffering with migraine headaches. The #1 reason why I am wording with my doctor & neuro to get them under control before we even think about TTC.

Re: So this week
Yeah totally. When I was 2, I had the chicken pox and my mom had a really bad flu. I remember lying in bed with her, but I can't imagine how awful it would have been to take care of a sick kid when she was feeling so lousy.

Re: So this week
Crashing too.
I will not be a martyr here.
I will not give the super mom answer.
It sucks balls.
It is the worst. A nightmare. And I turn into that mom who plops her kid in front of the tv and let's him play in traffic if it means I don't have to deal with him.
When he was a baby, and the plopping In front of the tv thing wasn't really an option, I had a nasty stomach virus. I called in to work, but dropped cailen off at daycare, thanking god I can at least have the day to rest.
The drive to daycare and back was grueling. I finally got back home, into bed, closed my eyes, and the phone rang.
"hi. It's cailen's teacher. He just threw up. Come get him."
So I had to deal with a baby with a nasty stomach virus while dealing with my own. It was the closest thing to hell I ever experienced.
I still miss having a sick day where I can be the whiny baby

Re: So this week
I will tell you, as a mom, I am so thankful for my DH. We have both battled stomach viruses since our DC have come into our lives (given to us by the little germ carriers themselves ) and if my DH was not there, I would not have been able to do it.
When I had the stomach virus, I was in bed for 24 hours straight and he took care of the kids. When he got it a couple of days later, he was in bed and I took care of the kids.
Honestly, if we had both been sick at the same time, I probably would have called my mom to come get the kids. So I'm no hero over here... I want to be sick, whining just like everyone else!
I will say though that if it's something less serious like a sore throat or a cold or cough, I suck it up and be a mom.
(But I will admit that there are times I don't feel well and look back on my days of no kids fondly!)... does that make me a bad mommy????
