Does anybody else have this boss?

I had a 12:30 - 1:30 one on one meeting scheduled with my boss. I got a decline on Monday - figured she had a conflict.

Boss (at 12:35) : "Are you coming to our meeting? You are 5 minutes late."

Me: "You declined the meeting."

Boss: "No I didn't."

Me: "Yes you did, so I scheduled a 1:00 with Mike. Can we reschedule for Monday?"

Boss: angry with me now "I did NOT decline."

Me: walk to desk, print out email decline and the tracking part of outlooks that shows decline. Show it to boss.

Boss: calls admin in "Did you decline this?"

Me: "She couldn't have - it shows when it comes from her on behalf of you versus when it comes from you."

Boss: "No it doesn't - it looks the same."

Me: walk to desk, print out different email where it shows the difference between admin-sent-on-behalf-of-boss email and boss-sent email.

Boss: "Well I didn't decline. Something's wrong with Outlook."

Me: "Okay - do you want to reschedule for Monday?"

Boss: "Fine. I'll change the appointment."

Me: "I originated it so I'll send the change - you won't be able to."

Boss: "Yes I can - I'll show you."

Me: Patiently waiting.

Boss: "Oh, looks like I can't. I'm going to call the help desk."

Me: "Let me know what they say." Walk back into office and bang head against desk.

OMG. She is your boss? Aren't bosses supposed to be smarter?

I will admit to knowing nothing about Outlook - but we don't use it that regularly for work. If she does then what the effff?

Yes, I have that boss. We had an arithmetic lesson yesterday. I feel your pain.

OMG... I don't have that boss, but if I did I would probably go back and forth between banging my head against the wall and hysterically laughing.

Is she serious?

I don't have that boss, but her issues with accepting accountability and admitting when she is wrong would drive me nuts.

My blood is boiling just reading this. I cannot stand people who don't/won't take responsibility for their actions.

How hard is it to say:

"Oh, I must have declined by accident. Good idea, reschedule for Monday."

Do people think the world is going to stop rotating on its axis or something?

Yes.

We had a problem with our printer yesterday. I tried everything, then he walks over and has to try everything I already tried and asks me to print a thousand test pages only to prove yet again, that it wasn't working.

Sadly my boss is much worse. she would have gotten mad at me for not following up on why she declined. If I showed her emails to prove the point I would have gotten written up for "insuborination"(hope I spelled that right)

Trust me, I got written up when I didn't return her call in a hour. (it was lunchtime)

I've had so many bosses like this. Thank GOD I don't work in an office setting anymore.

Not currently... but yes i have in other offices... its pretty frustrating to deal with people who are never wrong, even when they are...

As an IT person, I would classify this as a PEBCAK error (Problem Exists Between Chair And Keyboard) when she calls the helpdesk to report the issue she is having with Outlook.

I used to, now I have one that's way more technically saavy than my first boss.
Strangely enough the first boss is the one that started the software company where I work.

One of my other bosses once asked me to help edit some photos. There was a photo with her shaking hands with Castro. She asked if I can turn him around.

My boss is the head of technology and knows every inch of technology. Usually she is right.

THAS MY BOSS TO A T!!!!!!!!!!! except that shes the owner of the company and i wouldnt DARE print out something and show it to her out of fear of losing a vital organ!

hahaha! there are a lot of bosses like this out there.

it's frustrating to deal with.

and they are so clueless that they have no idea how dumb they appear.
