I need tax help PLEASE

Normally I pay to get my taxes done by a professional because I had a lot of business expenses that I claimed. I got married last year and discovered when doing our taxes that my deductions no longer exceeded the marriage credit so there was no point in paying to have someone calculate them anymore because they don't even count. I decided since we have a simple return this year that I would do it online through turbo tax. I am wondering why is it that the program is telling me we are getting back around $600 federal and owe about $200 state this year. Yes we made more money this year but are not in a different tax bracket from last year and obviously because we made more money we paid more in taxes. No different deductions from last year and last year we got back total around $2500. How do we go from getting back $2500 last year to $400 this year? Is there something I don't know about like getting a higher deduction the 1st year you are married? Please help, I am just trying to figure out if this is right or if I should take them to the person that did them last year in the hopes that we will get back around the same as last year? PLEASE HELP, TIA

Not sure about this but is the AMT still in effect or did that go away. Essentially a marriage tax.

See if it works out better if you file married, separately.

Did you change your filing at work? Went from filing S to M? If that is the case then you were taken out less taxes when compared to your previous years.

We had to pay the AMT (I think thats what its called) because we made to much money $2500 for extra out of our pocket for what???
