So lets see what happens.....

So we are having baby #3 this Friday

For those of you who know my story with SD, things have been going great and we seemed to have overcome the alienation thing now that she is getting older ( she's now 13)...All DH's contact with her is direct , no more going thru the BM

So last week DH asked her if she wanted to come for sibling visiting on Sunday 2-4 and she said yep, shouldn't be a problem ...

Fast foward till the other night when we went to dinner and she told us her mother said she couldn;t go because they had made plans for the step-fathers birthday

(Come on now, the man is in his mid 50's , and his birthday plans suddenly "had" to be on THAT day between 2-4 pm )...SD did not seem happy about that and it then led into a tirade about how she's 13 and feels like she has a full time job (she is and has always been completely overscheduled by her mother by sports, "family obligations" etc...) She said she never has time to spend with her friends or do anything else ...If you knew my step-daughter this was completely out of character for her (very meek, think Stepford child)
She genuinely seemed upset ..This is NOT the 1st time the BM has witheld her from a special occasion with our family ( DS and DD's 1st b-day she missed , BM came up with lame excuses why) DH has always been made to come secondary to everything.

Difference is now, SD is catching on ...And while I am glad that she is, I am sad for her at the same time...

DH called her yesterday and told her he could bring her from 7-8 for visting on Saturday instead so that she wouldn't miss it ...She sounded happy (though dissapointed that it would be through the glass instead of in the room) , but excited....She again said she had no plans and it should be fine...She SHOULD be there...Its her baby brother or sister she at 13 knows this, why doesn't her mother ????

Now lets see if BM sabotages this somehow....My SD is starting to get her number....What a shame that it has to be this way and that a 13 year old has to put up with her mothers childish nonsense and miss out on a whole 'nother side of her life and family because of the BM's insecurities...I'm just glad we never gave up, when it would have been so much easier to do just that.....
