Speech Only
Anyone's preschooler get speech services only?
DD has an articulation problem. We got her evaluated by the school district.
She came back very high intellecutally, but with the articulation issue.
Now she is getting services 2x a week until June. After June she will get re-evaluated when she goes to KG.
Is 3 months enough time to help her speech? Or are we starting her on something that is going to "disappear" this summer?

Re: Speech Only
If you have a good therapist, I think she can make progress in 3 months.

Re: Speech Only
DS started speech just before his 2nd birthday, similar scenario 2x a week. Within 6 months, he had made tremendous progress, but by 3 months, he had made some progress.
It varies depending upon the therapist, but I think it can help.

Re: Speech Only
It depends on her speech issue. My DS has an artic issue but it's apraxia so he didn't do well with regular speech therapy. In that case, 3 months didn't matter if it wasn't the right therapy. (he now receives PROMPT therapy) DD also had an artic issue when she was smaller but she responded quickly. She received more than 3 months but she was very quickly able to make changes.
When you say something that will disappear this summer, do you mean she will get no services or that her artic issue will clear up itself? If you mean services, unless she is very low on the artic percentile, she will probably not get summer services. She'd have to be very low.
