Has anyone rooted their nook color so you can access the android market for apps?

I know a bunch of people on Nookboards have, you could ask over there. They all seem happy with it.

It seems if you root it, you can do just about anything on the nook color that you can do on an ipad. I really want an ipad, but can't spend $500 on it. I bought the nook color for $199, and wondering if I should keep it or return it.

I just had the same issue - I decided to return the nook color and go for the gen2 ipad... If you wanted to get the orginal ipad best buy lowered there prices by $100 on them so the 16gb orig. wifi ipad is now only $399 rather then $499....
I am going to get the ipad gen2 - WOO HOO.... I am soooo excited....

i was talking to a lady on the train the other day whose husband did it for her and it was amazing...
id definitely do it if i knew how

I did...it was pretty simple to do and there are tons of tutorials online and youtube videos. However, in the end, I restored back to factory settings and returned the nook color. It wasn't as slick as an ipad, and I already have an android phone, so I felt that it was just a giant phone (that doesn't make phone calls). I don't read many books, so that wasn't my primary reason for buying this. I couldn't see how it would fit into my life...I have a smartphone and I have a laptop, so I returned it.
