Digital and non-digital scales? Accuracy difference?
I've been using the non-digital scale at the gym since I started working out. I can't remember the name of it, the one that starts out at 0 and you "see" it go around to your actual weight?  Anyway, it seems accurate and calibrated correctly. Well, I have 2 digital scales at home and they both are at least 6-7 lbs higher than the one at the gym?  How can that be? Which one do you think is more reliable? It's depressing to see the one at home showing me that much heavier.

You could ask at the gym how often the scale is calibrated. Personally I would go with the 2 digital scales at home. I know this is probably not what you want to hear. Another consideration is the time of day you are weighting yourself. Are you weighting yourself at the gym in the morning then at home in the evening?

I'd go with the one you have at home. Just so you know, you aren't alone in this frustration. I have a digital scale that uses only .5 lb increments. I just purchased a new scale that goes in .1 lb increments. Those 2 scales were 2 lbs off! So I just started from scratch with the new scale and made that weight my "Starting weight." It's just a number anyway, right?

Make sure you are weighing yourself in the AM, before eating, naked and on the same scale. It's amazing what a pair of pjs could add to your weight! Additionally, weighing yourself at night can be inaccurate bc of water gain etc and different scales will give you different weights -- stick w/ one. The scale sure can **** with your head, so don't let it!!

Make sure your scale is calibrated. Do you have a 5 or 10 lb weight at home? If you do, place it on the scale and it should read that weight.
So, if you put a 10 lb weight on it and it reads 10 then it is correctly calibrated. If it reads 12 lbs, it is 2 lbs heavy. If it reads 8 lbs, it is 2 lbs light.

I had this debate with my best friend and she put the weight on her scale - I was like amazed, would have never thought of that either. Haha sometimes genius is so simple!

That is how you calibrate the scale in industry (biomanufacturing). I just went to a conference and that was one of the activities.
