Minipill - anybody on it?
My baby girl just turned 3 weeks today and of course with my 6wk follow-up appt coming up with my Dr I'm starting to consider BC plans. The thought of having 2 under 2 is just horrifying to me. lol. But I really hate BC Pills. They scare me because of all the crap I hear about them, not to mention I'm trying to lose this baby weight and do not want to gain any of it back (and i know some pills do that to you). But it kind of does seem like that might be my only option right now. Since I'm breastfeeding I guess if i DID go the pill route, the Minipill would be the only way to go. Can anybody who's on it (or HAS taken it) tell me a little about it? I'm wondering if it has any icky side effects - like weight gain, irritability, etc. Would you recommend it? Or was it a bad experience?

ick. yes, I really don't like BC pills at all. I was on YAZ for about 6 months and then stopped and just relied on the pull-out method. lol. It did work fine for us (we didn't get pregnant until we actually started TRYING), but I feel afraid now to take that risk. If you don't mind my asking - what did you do to prevent pregnancy after you got off the pill?

Re: Minipill - anybody on it?
for me minipill was the easiest BC of all the ones I tried. Yaz was the worst. Othro.Try.Low was the next easiest.
I had no side effects on the mini pill, and was nervous about it too. I was on it for about 6m.

I can't handle any hormomal BC either- so we use VCF (vaginal contraceptive film) in addition to pulling out. You can buy it at any drugstore or Target- it's a thing film square that you fold up and shove up your who ha. It dissolves into a spermicide. I dont' trust it 100% though- so we pull out as well. DH hates condoms (and I really do too) So we just use this.
I wanted to get an IUD but my periods are just so heavy and I hear an IUD can make that even worse.

I have to ask about this when I got to the doctor this month.
Is it just if you BF?

Re: Minipill - anybody on it?
I also used it for 4 months while BFing my son. I didn't have any problems except that I started bleeding while taking it. The doctors really didn't know if it was actually my period (they didn't think so since I was EBF) or breakthrough bleededing. I think I missed a couple of days due to lack of sleep or something and that may have caused the bleeding...

Re: Minipill - anybody on it?
I'm gonna ask my Dr about it at my appt in a couple weeks. Looks like it's either this or condoms cause the whole idea of inserting anything just kinda skeeves me out for some reason

Re: Minipill - anybody on it?
I was on it for 4 months and gained almost 20lbs. And I KNOW it was from the pill b/c I had gallstones and was on a low/no fat diet. I only gained 1lb. the whole pregnancy from the gallstones. I was also breaking out and moody. Curious about whether or not it was the pill, I googled it and found tons of women in various message and chat boards complaining about the exact same thing. I stopped taking it immediately. I will talk to my OB at my 6 month PP check up about other options.

After I got off it (b/c of the side effects AND I wasnt BFing anymore) I tried Yaz for a month- not for me I had bleeding for over 10 days and still with the migranes.
Now we are using a combo of condoms/pull-out which scares the cr@p outta me cause that how we got Julianna. As much as I love her I dont want another baby right now!!! Im going to my OB hopefully in the next week to ask about the Paragaurd IUD.

Re: Minipill - anybody on it?
I was on it for a year and absolutely loved it! Had no issues whatsoever, no side effects at all. The only other pill I ever had experience with was Orthotricyclene Lo for about 4.5 years and had no issues with that either.
