Re: What's the difference between...

Well technically they say you are pregnant for 10 months, right?

So for every month you finish, you are that many months pregnant. You can also say you are in the next month.

So you are 9 months pregnant but in your 10th month. You're still going through it ...

For you ... you are 8 months pregnant or in your 9th month.

That's how I understood it to be - not sure if that's absolutely correct though ...

It's not entirely correct. You are only pregnant for 9 months, not 10. Since pregnancy math is crazy and they count the first (roughly) 2 weeks of the pregnancy and the 2 weeks since your period- when you weren't even pregnant yet- the 40 weeks, only really boils down to 9 months from first day of LMP to delivery (of course that's in a perfect 40 week pregnancy, which like never happens!).

If you are in your 8th month of pregnancy, you have completed 7 months of being pregnant, and are "working towards" being 8 months pregnant, so the 8th month has begun. This is because you don't start with being 1 month pregnant, you start with being 0 months pregnant and in your first month of pregnancy. At the end of that first month, you would be 1 month pregnant, and moving into your 2nd month. Look at it this way: After your baby is born, he or she will be in his/her first year of life, right? But you won't say he/she is 1 until the END of that first year. And once they turn 1, they will enter their 2nd year. I hope that makes sense lol.

It's not 10 months b/c most months have more than 4 weeks in them. 40 weeks is 280 days. 280÷30 is 9 months (with a remaider for the months with 31 days.
