I am finally going to do it, I am signing up for a 5K!!!
I am so excited for it!!! I have never been much of a runner but I have set my mind to wanting to do this. So I shared this goal with my trainer and we have begun training for it starting today. He assured me that I can definitely run a 5K no problem at all, especially if I start training now. I mean I can do 8-9 miles on the elliptical so I have to imagine that I can run/jog/walk 3.2 miles!!
I am really just so excited to hit this goal. I am signing up for one at the end of May and I can't wait. I'm just hoping that my ankle stays strong because I have an ankle injury and it catches up to me from time to time. But since I've lost all this weight it hasn't been bothering me, so I'm hopeful!
Anyone that has any suggestions about training I would love to hear them!

Congrats on your decision! You'll really enjoy training and the race itself.
Whats your mileage like now? I know you said you can do 8-9 miles on the elliptical (cross training and running impact the body VERY differently though). Make sure you get a few runs outside as well- you want to get used to the pounding on the pavement.
And...the best part is a 5k is only 3.1 (not 3.2) so its a pretty attainable distance especially if you have a good base already (which it sounds like you do!)
GOOD LUCK!!
