Family training
I was thinking of asking fir family training at my DD's annual review. She's having bedtime issues, still tantrums....I want to know how to help her with the issues she has.
How does it work? Do you just meet weekly and make a plan or do they work with you and your child hands on to help certain behaviors. Just wanted an idea how family training works. Do districts give it easily?

Re: Family training
We had 1 in EI. We have 1 in CPSE.
We go over his at home services ABA programs. Therapies I inquire about. We go over strategies. We go about going through his playroom and rearrange stuff. She comes when DS is in school.
But I do know that some have one with the child present. For dealing with potty training, bath, feeding, etc...

Re: Family training
They added a parent trainer for us a few weeks ago when i had to pull DS from his preschool. Ever since I took Him out of school he's been good as gold. He starts at his new school Monday so I'm not sure if some of his old behaviors are going to pop up again
Right now we are working on techniques to deal with power struggles, giving him choices to make his own decisions, responsibility/chore list.

Re: Family training
Is this a class or a one on one thing? We have our CPSE meeting coming up and I was told if they don't offer this - I might want to ask them for this.

It can be at your house. I would ask for one. Tell them that you need guidance with strategies on dealing with DC' issues.

That is great! I got the impressing it was a class somewhere. Do they do it with you and your DC? This would be very helpful because our days can be very rough and I could use some guidance.

Yes, we had one in EI and we have one in CPSE.
Asking for family training coming to your house for 1 hour per week is a reasonable request.
You can say you also need it for guidance with behavior with sibings, friends, socialization, grandparents, family interaction, etc...

Re: Family training
We were approved for family training 1 hour a week at our CPSE meeting. We just had our first session this week, she came to our house while DS was in preschool (she had actually just finished her hour with him in the classroom as his SEIT). Since it was our first meeting, we mostly just talked about DS and his behaviors, and about being consistant. I'm not sure if she will always be coming while DS is in school, or if she will come some weeks while he is home, so she can work with him as well.
