HI! I'm new to this board!
I'm a long time LIW and new LIF poster
I have a few questions....
I tested positive on three different home preg. tests today
I called my dr. and they will not see me until 6 weeks (about three weeks from now) which is fine, I'll have a sonogram done then.
I just thought they would want blood work to confirm the pregnancy?

CONGRATS!
I had a blood test to confirm my pregnancy when I went in for my 6 week appointment. The nurse bascially said that HPT tests, these days are so sensitive and accurate that they will wait unless a blood test is requested.

Congrats! My dr made me wait until I missed 2 periods - I remember being so upset and disappointed and confused. I was like what do I do?

My doctor saw me right away but I later found out that most doctors usually make you wait.

Same here...He saw me 4 days after I tested...they Do usually make you wait until you're about 8 weeks

YAY....Congrats.
My Dr. made me wait 9 weeks. I was like...."uh am I supposed to be doing anything in the meantime?" They told me to take prenatals....if I didn't ask I never would have known. Frustrating.
So instead I played around on the LIW parenting website to learn

WElcome and Congrats!!! Most doctors will not see you until 6-8 weeks along because of the chance of natural miscarriage and you can't see the heartbeat until then.
Bloodwork is done for high risk, those with infertility problems, etc. I had my bloodwork confirmed because I had miscarried and asked them if there was anything I could do to be "cautious" until my first appt.-they told me to come in for bloodwork to check my hcg and progesterone which was all normal (hcg was only 146 5 days after my BFP which the Dr said was low, but normal for early in a PG).
 The rule of thumb at my dr's office is "call if you are bleeding or cramping so bad you can't walk or talk through the pain" which I have not experienced either this PG.

Welcome and congratulations! I ironically had a doctor's appointment scheduled a week from the day I tested positive anyway, so I didn't have wait.

My doctor didn't do a blood test and wouldn't see me until I was 8 weeks. Even then she still didn't do a sonogram.

my doctors confirmed that if you got a positive HPT then its positive they dont do blood work to confirm.

My doctor didn't see me until 8 weeks, for some offices that's pretty normal.
Just try to relax and the time will fly until your first appointment.

I wanted to wait till I was 9 weeks to see the Dr. But, they made me come in for the blood work. I was like beleive me I know I'm pregnant!! Some Drs do it that way.
