After my long awaited move, I'm in my own apartment with Yogi...

I've posted before how anxious I was about getting an apartment that could accomodate my very hyper and anxious Yogi. I found a place that is perfect! Not too big, not too small and has a yard for him to play. But, I feel bad for him. I feel like he was ripped away from his home and dosen't understand why he's here and that this is his new home. What can I do to ease the confusion for him? I came home today from work on my lunch break to let him out and play with him. He enjoyed that. And, we played again today when I got home from work. I wish I could explain to him what's going on. Any advise?

I think as with any move, he will adjust and learn the norm for his new life. I know how much you have been through and I want to Chat Icon you. I think coming home to visit him is a great thing.

Maybe on the weekends you can take him to a dog park with your DS. Make up for his time in with weekend activities. I am so glad you found a place that works for you and that you can even have him with you and have some yard space for him. That is really an awesome find.

In time, he will adjust, just as we all do. Dogs adjust pretty quickly, as long as the ones they love are with them, kwim?Chat Icon

I think if he senses your worry, he will live up to it. You have done a lot of good for yourself to move in a positive direction. Let him feel that energy from you and he will thrive.

I always leave a piece or two of worn clothing around for my dogs when I'm gone...they love to lie on it cause it has my scent on it...that might help! Chat Icon

Dogs bounce back fast. But I definitely agree that they really pick up on your emotions and react accordingly so as long as you aren't overly stressed out and homesick, I think your dog will be fine. Congrats on the move though! Chat Icon
