-UPDATE - final u/s scheduled and another ?

It has been almost 3 weeks since I was diagnosed with an empty sac at 6 weeks and I have zero symptoms of miscarrying, yet. I am now scheduled for my finals u/s next wed, I should be 9 weeks
Anyway, the Dr said 1 of 3 things could happen. I'll m/c on my own, a d&c or my body could have absorbed the pregnancy (????) and I will just continue on with regular period-like bleeding. I have never heard of this happening and cant find too much about it, does anyone have experience with this happening? How does that work, it just disinegrates, i'm so confused! TIA


ETA: He also said they could give a pill to induce m/c but since I've already had a csection, he doesnt advise this because it could cause complications.

**update: I had my d&c yesterday at 10 weeks. I arrived at the hospital at 11am for check in and wasn't taken to the OR until after 2pm, the wait was the WORST part...I was starving, thirsty and scared. They gave me drugs via IV "to relax me" shortly before being taken down for surgery, they made me so groggy that I barely remember going into the operating room. I remember taking '10 deep breaths' and then waking up in recovery. I was so groggy I fell right back to sleep and stayed that way until I was released after 5pm, came home and slept until 7:30am. I came home with pretty bad cramps and still have them today, with light bleeding. As sad as I am, i am happy to finally have closure - 4 weeks waiting around to m/c was torture. I feel like I can finally move on with life (in a good way) thank you all for your support, it's comforting to know I am not alone!

when i had the ectopic my dr told me that onces the tissue dies it will most likely be reabsorbed back into my body...

idk about a blighted ovum tho... im in the same situation as you... my apt today 6w4d with an empty sac...

so sorry to hear about your appt I was told I had an empty sac and 5 weeks and again at 6, they wanted to schedule a d&c right away but I chose to hold off to see if I m/c on my own since I did with my last loss and with little hope that a miracle would happen and maybe it was just too early. It's so confusing b/c I had so many pg symptoms, only to find out it wasnt a viable pg.
Do you have a repeat u/s scheduled? you're in my prayers

im going to a sonoscan on monday... they have better machines there..

I hope it is just too early for you, a few days can make a difference!

I haven't had another u/s since 6 weeks. My HCG was 10500 at 5 weeks so my Dr thinks we should have def seen something at that 1st u/s, and we didnt (and empty again at 6), so I haven't been back.

I would absolutely go for more bloodwork. The doctor took mine every couple of days or so - and I went back for about three sonos in a matter of two weeks.

I would personally call up your doctor today and tell him you want your blood taken - he can write a script for you to go to a lab. The results will be back on Mon/Tues - just around the time that you have another sono.

Ughhh still so sorry you have no answers yet. So your sono is this Wednesday as in 2 days? Ok well that is good, you will get some answers. I still cannot believe you held out this long. I was at the dr. 3 weeks in a row, I needed answers and a for sure confirmation.

Also a note about the bloods, they are not always accurate at this point. Betas are best used in the first few weeks of pregnancy to confirm. In the later weeks they start to level off. My dr. only took my blood twice and he said that it is better to go off the ultrasound. My levels were 16,000 and no baby. Also I hate my dr. and dumped him, haha, but I have heard that they cannot use bloods 100% in the later 6,7,8 weeks of pregnancy.

I had another u/s last week only to still find an empty sac. i should have been 10 weeks tomorrow but instead have a d&c scheduled for thursday. i have no m/c symptoms so my Dr thinks this is the best route for me to take and i am extremely nervous. I go to the hospital for pre-op testing tomorrow...ugh

I know the feeling, hugggggsssssss. I think the D&C is the best route for you now and will help you to move on (I hope?) - it helped me at least.

Aww so sorry you had to wait so long, ughhh! That must have been so hard. I am so glad you got it done though, you are on the right track now and can move on. I am so sorry you had to go through this - it is not easy. Hang in there and I will be hoping for good news for yu in the future!
