Question about defensive driving discount
Do DH and I both need to take it or just one of us to get the 10% discount? If we both take it to would we get a 20% discount or is that wishful thinking?

We did it through geico and the national safety council. We each saved 10% on our primary use car.

DH & I did this 2 weeks ago. We used ... Improv Traffic School
It took us about 24 hours to complete - we started one night (2 laptops) and the next day he ran his at work and I ran mine at home. It was easy to do.
We both saved on it (about 27% total), so it's worth it for both of you to take it....

We also used the Improv Traffic School. We both took the course simaltaneously. It was easy.
Both of you need to do it to get the best discount.

After completing the course do we have to submit something to our insurance company or does Improv do it for you?
ETA: Something tells me I'll be completing the course for myself and DH

improv was $24 each with promo code NY101.
ETA: They send the info to the DMV for you and then send you a copy of the course completion. You then have to send that to your carrier.

If you are listed as the primary driver of car A
and your husband is listed as the primary driver of car B then both of you should take it.
If you are listed as the primary driver of car A and B you alone should take it.
If your husband is listed as the primary driver of car A and B he should take it.

I did the course for my husband and I and I got a coupon after doing mine for 5.00 off so i got my husbands for 20.00. They will mail you a certificate and you just have to fax it to your ins company. We got 10% off for each

I’m not sure if you both will get a discount, but in our case since there were two cars, and each of us was listed as a primary driver on one, we both got our driver safety discounts. We did our course through AARP. I would suggest your husband enroll too for other benefits such as getting a ticket dismissed. I don’t know about your insurance carrier, but the one I’m using- The Hartford- has some nice benefits along with their regular car insurance deals for people who have maintained a clean driving record for 5 years; If I maintain a clean record for just 6 more months I will receive a discount of $150 off my deductable and the first accident I have will not result in a spike in insurance rates even if I am at fault. So getting a ticket dismissed is very important to me.
