At my gym they have an infant room. It has windows so you can see in. I def would drop my DC off there.

Lucille Roberts in Massapequa. I also sometimes go to the Bay Shore one and they only have 1 room and I'm not sure if they take kids who aren't walking.
ETA: Their infant room is only open M-F from 9:15am-11:15am. So I haven't been able to take advantage b/c I work.

Re: gym daycares
I'm in brooklyn, but I started bringing DD at about that age, maybe even younger. I brought her in her car seat and it was totally fine. They also had an excersaucer, and if it wasn't crowded the teacher would take her out. There was a monitor and a huge TV so I would plant myself on a machine in front of the TV and watch her while I worked out.

Re: gym daycares
My gym takes infants from 6 weeks on. I started bringing DD at 12 weeks (3 months) a few mornings a week, only 1 to 2 hours at a time.

Re: gym daycares
I'd ask what the ratio of adults/children are. I'd really just want to see that the place is clean and that the people working there are people you feel comfortable leaving your child with. I LOVE the fact that my gym has a monitor. See if other places have that.

Re: gym daycares
My gym takes infants from as early as 6 weeks as well. It's a family friendly fitness center so they really push the idea of all members to be a part of the gym. I've brought my DS only a handful of times though and now he's 7 months old and have been trying to take him more but he's showing quite a few signs of separation anxiety and am upset I didn't start sooner. So now I'm working in "baby" steps to get him used to it and I think that if I just got over my fear earlier I wouldn't be experiencing this problem now :( but we'll keep trying.
