***?
I gained TWO lbs this week, and I worked out SIX days!!! I don't understand. Now I have a NET GAIN of 1 lb over the month that I've been trying to lose weight. I feel like what's the point of all tis? I'm the same weight as when I didn't count calories or exercise.
Maybe I'm eating too many carbs? I have some with every meal and snack. I did well on South Beach diet before, but I was much heavier. I wonder if cutting my carbs to 1 serving a day will help. I was doing this before but somehow slipped back into counting calories but not carbs. I don't know, I"m so confused...

Re: ***?
It sounds like your body is like mine. I work out 5 days a week and eat pretty well & don't lose weight unless I drastically cut carbs. With my body, I had to play around with the best time to eat carbs. I cannot have carbs with all 3 meals, plus snack and lose weight. It doesn't work for my body. I have also done South Beach and been successful but let's face it---that's not an eating plan that can be sustained over a long period of time.
What I have tried to do is have carbs with breakfast & dinner. And when I say carbs, I mean a small portion. For breakfast, I will eat 3 egg white, veggies and a piece of whole wheat toast with coffee & juice OR a yogurt with fruit & granola or some crunchy cereal mixed in my yogurt. For lunch, I try to stick with salad and protein (chicken or egg) & a piece of fruit. Go-to snacks---laughing cow cheese & veggies, apple/banana & peanut butter, hard boiled egg & celery, smoothie/protein shake. Dinner is a protein, veggies and sometimes brown rice/pasta. When I stick with this, plus drink 6-8 glasses of water a day, I am successful.

Re: ***?
Yup, I think this is what I am going to have to do. That whole "calories in, calories out" is bull. It's so much more complicated than that.

Re: ***?
I so know how you feel - I've been going through the same thing this week. Working hard, eating right, and I gained back 3 of the 5 lbs I've already lost. I don't get it. I'm hoping it's hormonal or something, because it's really discouraging.
I agree that cutting down on carbs might help. Maybe try it for a week, see what happens?

Re: ***?
This happens to me. I make my best effort, get on the scale & see it going up
I just can't weigh myself anymore. Just go by how your clothes fit. You're just gonna drive yourself crazy & make yourself miserable dealing with the numbers on the scale.

Re: ***?
Try not to get discouraged. I know this may sound counter intuitive but are you sure you are eating enough calories a day? It is really important to make sure your intake is adequate. You can try varying your intake to see what your body responds best to but in the end a calorie is a calorie. Trying carbohydrate cycling may help or varying you caloric intake each day so you have high calorie days and low calorie day may help to boost you metabolism.

Re: ***?
first off hugs It can be very frustrating when you work your butt off and don't see results on the scale. However, are you measuring yourself? Losing any inches? Those could be great results!
Cutting back on carbs is defintely a good thing to try. Sometimes you just have to play around with calories and (just as important) the macronutrients that make up those calories. Even the time you eat can impact weight gain/loss.
Best of luck!! I hope you see the results you want really soon!

Re: ***?
Give it time... you're basically shocking your system and it takes some time for it to adjust and rev up your metabolism in response.
If you look at one of my prior posts, I was getting SOOO frustrated that I hadn't lost a single ounce in over 3 months. But then I tried on the same dress that I took pictures of 3 months ago and it fit more comfortably. I took a picture of myself wearing it now, and there is a noticeable difference.
I'm sure you are losing, just not on the scale - remember, too, you're building muscle, which weighs more. Try to focus more on how your clothes fit, and how you feel until the scale comes into alignment

Re: ***?
How many calories are you eating?
How are you tracking these calories?
Are you weighing your food? Portions are smaller than you think.
I use myfitnesspal.com to keep track of my calories, and it also tracks all the other nutrition facts. Its been really helpful at making me concious of what I eat.
