Property ? re Divorce
my ILs are going through a divorce, still living together. My FIL owns the car MIL drives. Yesterday she was spotted letting her very questionable boyfriend drive it. My question is can FIL reclaim the car, and not let her take it? We don't know if the BF has a license, insurance, and what kind of driver he is.
If BF gets in an accident, what liability does FIL have, if he can't reclaim the car? He just doesn't want it to look bad w/ the divorce judge.

Re: Property ? re Divorce
If they don't have a prenup, the car belongs to both of them and until they are a separation of assets, she is allowed to drive the car.
He should talk to an attorney on the BF issue and if he has any recourse.

Re: Property ? re Divorce
That's what I thought, thanks for the reply.
Just hope that FIL doesn't get screwed outta everything with this divorce. MIL has been living a double life and ran up 20k+ in debt

Re: Property ? re Divorce
He should take the $$$$ out of the account. Apparently she has been helping herself freely into this.
He should always consult with a divorce attorney.
