How did you narrow down all the wonderful photographers on this site and the ones that are reccomended?
They all seem so great and talented!
I was wondering how you know which one is "The One."
What was it that made you pick yours?
Is there anything I should look for, specifically?

Look at all the photos on their websites and pick the one that speaks to you. Each of the ladies here offers something a bit different, and if you pay close enough attention to the pics posted you can see who are the trend setters, and who are the followers.

I remember Sandra (September Blue) back from LIW so when I saw her amazing pictures I wanted to get Lucas in front of her camera.
Never disappointed...she has such a way with him and I love the pictures. She is a very talented photographer and clearly doing what she was meant to do.

I picked one that I knew my kids would be comfortable with and I liked her photography style. We use Amanda DiMonda Photography I got to know her when she was one of the teachers in DS's class last year, but we waited until the year was over to work with her to avoid any awkwardness. We've used her twice and I'm really happy with the results. My kids really love her and get so excited when they see her, we live in the same town so we bump into her fairly often.

I actually met Shira Z., when I was looking for a wedding photographer. I had a lot of kids at my wedding and in my wedding party, so I wanted someone that had a good portfolio of kids as well as wedding, and I was trying to fit a 2nd photographer on a budget, she worked with me.
Her photographs of children blew me away. It wasn't so much about the lighting, the framing, the scenery, or the art, or whatever, she captures their souls, I don't know how else to describe it. I can just hear that kids voice and what they are saying in her pictures, I can hear their laughs and their thoughts.
She captured the most touching pictures at the wedding, pictures my family will cherish, mothers with daughters, brothers and sisters, gorgeous stunning, I can't even describe, you can feel their hearts.
She did our newborn shoot, and i hired her again for a mini shoot. I can't describe the joy I have that DS was captured in that moment in his infancy in such a pristine way.

I chose Shira Z to take DD newborn pics because many reasons : She was the closest photographer near my home ( I live in Brooklyn) and she was the only one that wouldn't charge a traveling fee. Her prices are more affordable with high res. Cd included than other photographers and her pics are amazingly gorgeous as other photographers on here.
I was extremely happy when I received DD pics and I book her for DD 6, 9, 12 month pic

Look at the pics, price them out. They all have a different style, to me anyway, but I think they're all really talented. I don't think you can really go wrong with any of them.
ETA: I went with Shira Z also. She's funny, always gets back to you quickly, answers your questions. I like her, I'm sticking with her. Her pictures are pretty awesome too.

SHE picked ME!!!
I had maternity photos taken at JCP and they were awful. So she offered to take my pictures. Then when DD came along, she offered again. And again for her Christening. I was her first maternity shoot, and I believe her first newborn shoot.
That wonderful woman is Lori from AvaJack. I love her and her work. There are many talented photographers on here, but she is my "first" and so much more than just talent to me....

September Blue!!! All I have to say is the kid went to bed at MIDNIGHT the night before, and she got THIS shot out of him. I'm floored!
AvaJack has done my photographs for ages now also. She did Tylers newborn shoot (in my album) and his 1st birthday shoot (also in albums) and a few shoots of Jack. Lori is amazing to work with, and a saint when it comes to dealing with my little terrors!

I actually chose Sandra because of the pictures she took of Lucas. Daniel and Lucas used to be daycare buddies. When I saw the pictures she took of Lucas, I thought that she really captured him. And I just really loved the pictures she took.
I've used her for a family shoot last year (teasers from that are in my album) and this year I did a mini session (see teaser left).
My DS had just woken up from a car nap when we arrived at our mini session last week and was feeling very shy. She did a wonderful job getting him to open up with her and by the end he was acting like his scutchy self.

I agree with some of the previous posts about looking at the photographer's style in comparison with what you want. I have been very pleased with Heather from Forever Fireflies. I love her style and she is great at getting the "amazing" shots. There are pictures in my album!

I chose September Blue because of THIS:
See how peaceful this picture is?? You would never know that my kids were acting like a tag team at WWF Smackdown during the bed background session! She is GENIUS!

I have worked with Summerlyn and Lexi-Bella and they are both so talented.
I choose Summer for DD newborn pictures b/c her pictures of newborns were the first I saw when I lurked on this board as a preggo - and I was so blown away that I had to use her.
I choose Maria for DD first year pictures because I love how she photographs toddlers - the pictures seem so natural yet creative.
You won't go wrong with either! But I do recommend checking out the photographer's portfolios online and see which pictures speak to you.

When I was 3 months pregnent, I wasn't even on LIF yet... but my friend became a 'fan' of Michelle McFadden... I checked out her page and fell in LOVE with her work! I wrote her an email then and there. I booked her... Once I got the proofs, I told her she is my liftime photographer LOL... I have used her for everything...and plan to contue to do so. Even if we move out of state, I will come back to NY when I want pics taken...how bad is taht?? LOL. I just love working with her, and she always captures exactly what I want. Plus, my DS has gotten to know her well after all the GTGs so he doesn't go through his 'shy' stage for 45 mins to warm up first LOL.
