yes. You should count them every so often to avoid taking in too many calories. in the end, too many calories will result in fat gain, or too little will result in a slow metabolism.

Re: Low Carb Dieters . . . .
when I do low carb I also watch my cal..I am doing low carb now but still couting points like on WW - I just prefer that over adding up calories.
I know when I tried atkins alot of times I think I ate too much cheese and fatty foods which worked against me. No matter what diet you're on I think to lose fat the most important thing is to burn more cal than you take in.

Re: Low Carb Dieters . . . .
Thanks. I am going to try to stay as close to the calorie deficit I came up with while eating low carb. I hope it goes well!

Good luck!
The best advise I got was read the book for the program you are following (atkins, south beach, etc.) - the more information you have the better you will do. I lurk on lowcarbfriends.com which has tons of information but be wary of a lot of the highly restrictive challenges/plans they have going on.
I try to avoid anything really artificial or processed, drink lots of water, eat the salads (or veggies), listen to your body and remember it's not a race.
