Re: First RE appt?
I just had my first apt last week. They wanted DH to come with me for the first apt. It wasn't bad. They did a full history (on me and DH) and asked tons of questions. Then they examined me, did a sono and took blood. They want DH to get a SA before we go back. I am also suppsed to continue charting. I stopped for a little while for my sanity..but now I am going to continue and bring in my charts! Good luck!!!

Re: First RE appt?
that is a pretty good explanation. But I do think you need DH there for the first appt. Good luck

Re: First RE appt?
If you have never seen an RE before, I would think they would want DH there.
My First RE insisted on it, then since I had already been having treatment, my second RE said it was ok to come alone.

Re: First RE appt?
Here's me dilemma.... dh has urologist appt. same time of day 2 days later. He can't miss work both days. I don't want to cancel either appt. especially if we find out we need to miss more work for treatment.
What do you guys think?
Should I reschedule one of the appts so we can both go to them together or can I do the 1st RE appt alone?

Re: First RE appt?
Well, I do think DH should go;however, I didn't have the opportunity to take DHbecause of his wacky schedule and he doesn't have the same schedule every month. He doesn't find out til the last week of every month.
I was okay without him. But, when and if we do IVF, he will certainly be there.
Depending on your history: They can run different diagnostic testing. So far this is what I have had done or will be doing
1) CD3 Blood work to check your Fsh/LH/estradiols/prolactin/testosterone 2) I was recently diagnosed with hypo-thyroid by family doctor and your RE may want new bloodwork depending when the last time you had yours checked. TSH Levels should be I believe-under 2.5 3) They may want you to do bloodwork, Insulin Fasting to see if you are insulin resistant 4) They may want to check your adrenals through the DHEAS bloodwork. 5)If you haven't had a HSG, you will most likely have one. This is to see if your tubes are blocked. 6) I have fibroids so they are going to do a saline sonogram to see where my fibroids are located. 7) A regular sonogram is one way of seeing if you have PCOS. Another indicator is your FSH/LH ratio. 8) DH must submit a SA
Also, your RE will probably want to get bloodwork to see if you have autoimmune issues. That is whole series of bloodwork. I think it is also known as RPL panel.
Once all my tests come back, I will have a better idea about proceeding with IVF. So now, I am eagerly waiting.
Good Luck at the RE!!!
FYI, I have gone to 3 RE's and I ended up liking the 3rd one. So it is okay to interview RE's to see which one you feel comfortable with.

It depends if your RE does it in house or if they send you to a lab.
