Port Jeff Station
We found a house we LOVE there. But I don't know much about the area. Does anyone know if it is a good area? How is the school district?

Re: Port Jeff Station
Port Jeff station is a decent area. Is the home is middle country school or is it Comsewogue School District? Comsqwogue is a better school however middle country is a fine district as well. We were actually looking into a home in PJS its a nice area,

I grew up there! I substitute taught there and my youngest brother graduated HS in 2009. My parents are still there.

Re: Port Jeff Station
I live there now. It's a great area. I have had no problems at all. I am on the Ward Melville HS side. My brother-in-law just put a bid on a house two blocks from us. I never thought they would move by us because they love Smithtown.
I have heard nothing but good things about the District. I coach at the HS and my first child will attend Kindergarten next year. I don't think you can get a better value than there. The housing is not that expensive in this market now, my taxes have not risen much at all (they were originally $5600 and now they are $6200 and that's after 8 years!), and the school district is good. As a teacher in another district, I think they always put up a responsible budget too.
Good luck (future neighbor - HA)!

I live near there, but in Three Village schools. I love the area--very convenient, nice shopping, and I am a huge fan of Buttercup dairy store in Terryville (that's cheesy to say, but it's a total throwback bakery/dairy store in a barn, and makes you feel like you're not on LI!).

I graduated from Comsewogue in 89 too. I lived in the W-section which is technically Coram, behind the high school.

Re: Port Jeff Station
I don't live in PJS but my ex-b/f did... just something to think about - drive on 347 or Nicolls Road and try to get to the LIE/Northern State.

There are so many ways to get to the LIE from PJS. Especially the LIE, you can take 112 (though I wouldn't), 83, etc, etc and most of the Island is like that

Re: Port Jeff Station
i grew up in port jeff station, just south of 347 behind boyle road. graduated from comsewogue. and wound up buying my grandparents house just north of 347, closer to ward melville hs but still in comsewogue school district. it's not the best on the island... but decent. my family had no problem with it, i had no problem with it, and i won't have any problem sending my children there someday. pjs is just home to me... and the fact that i'm willing to commute almost 60 miles to work every day, each way, says a lot. i can't imagine living anywhere else.
