Horray!! Almost 3 and he can FINALLY spoon-feed himself
This is huge for DS. I mean, HUGE. He has never, ever been able to handle a spoon. Not only the motor planning involved in getting the food to stay on it and bring it to his mouth, but he had a huge sensory issue with food touching anywhere on his face. And if anything dropped off, he had to have it picked up for him and placed back in the bowl. It's always since day 1 been me spoon feeding him.
Anyway, Chocolate Cheerios did it. He's over there right now scooping away happily into his mouth.

YAY!!! I KNOW how big this is. DS has sensory on the palm of his hands. It was hard!!!!

I could have written this post myself!!! I went thru the same exact thing with my 3 year old son...he just started this past February!!! The magical food was applesauce!!
He started doing this just in time DS 2 was born!!! Now he can feed himself and I can BF the other one at the same time...what a difference!
He still hates having his face dirty too...but we have been slowly desensitizing him from all this...now he tolerates his table being messy and I showed him how to wipe his mouth if the food bothers him too much...
Hooray for them!!!

That's GREAT!!!!! What a fantastic accomplishment!!!
DS is almost 4 and he doesn't have the motor planning to spoon feed things that aren't tacky. He can do oatmeal and pudding but I could never attempt yogurt, cereal w/ milk or applesauce without a giant mess. I just spoke to his therapist about this last week and we're going to tackle this next. I can't wait until I can say the same.
