Do we need a "Seat Saver" for the car seat?
Do you think THIS SEAT SAVER is necessary?

They actually say those seat savers are not safe. That being said, DD's seat absolutely ruined the leather seats in my DH's car, which was a lease. Luckily they never charged us! Read up a little on whether they are recommended..

Unnecessary.
We used a towel- only because we have leather seats in the car. If you have cloth, then it would REALLY be unnecessary!

I got one of these and was just wondering the same thing. I feel like it's probably not all that necessary with an infant seat, but maybe with the convertible seat. I am taking my seat to be inspected next week so I am going to ask them.

Car seats DESTROY leather seats--so if you have them, I would recommend putting something under the seat.

Have one myself. Carseats ruin leather seats, my next car will have cloth so I dont have to deal with it.

If I remember correctly it may void the warranty on your car seat. Companies may go as far to say that you can not properly install the car seat when using one. I would check with the manufacturer of the car seat you will be using to make sure.

i dont think they are necessary, i dont have leather seats, but DH does, and even tho his car is not int he best condition to begin with he refused to instal the car seat base into his car until he got the seat saver to protect the leather seats! men!

I've read that anything under the car seat is very dangerous check out child safety websites, they did a lot of studies on this when car's were in crashes

Re: Do we need a "Seat Saver" for the car seat?
We are buying a brand new car with leather and the dealer said to 100% buy a seat saver. We will be using this for sure. He said the car seat can puncture the leather over time.

Re: Do we need a "Seat Saver" for the car seat?
Nope, never got one. It's fine without it, i take the seat out once a month and vaccuum all the crackers and such and good as new! I would imagine if you got into an accident the seat would slide worse on the car seat saver...

That's great to know. I just registered for one for my dad's car since he and my mom will be watching the baby for us weekdays.
Thanks, ladies!
