The Help
Typically, I don't like books that take place in "the past" , but you all are raving about this book...
Will I like it, or will the "past" part of it aggravate me? I'm totally not into history or anything like that.

Re: The Help
I'm not sure but it's definitely worth a shot. It was a great story and I really liked the characters.

Re: The Help
I liked it...I didn't loooove it like many others, but it definitely was a good story
The movie previews for it look awful...I can tell already it won't be as good as the book

I felt the same way about it.
It takes place in the past but it doesn't have that historical feel to it if you know what I mean.

Re: The Help
When you read it, you fell like you' re right there. It feels like it's the present, which sounds awful considering the subject matter. But you don't feel like it's a " history" novel. It's a great story.

Re: The Help
I thought this book was amazing and I don't really like things that take place in the past either. It really opened my eyes though.

Re: The Help
Nooo.... not boring AT ALL!
I'm into chick lit/funny/modern reads, so I was skeptical too..but this has to be one of the best I've ever read. Such a good story and there were NO dull parts, it will keep you interested and wanting to read more!
