I have an education degree too and I couldn't find a teaching job to save my life, and I graduated undergrad in 2006 and am almost done with my masters... holy student loans lol.
Anyway, I tutor now everyday after school. I found the job by posting on care.com. I also see flyers in Stop and Shop all the time, the ones on the community board with the phone number strips at the bottom that you can tear off... most of the numbers are always torn off meaning these people are more than likely getting a lot of jobs. You could try posting flyers in all the grocery stores. Also there is a section on craigslist where you can post. Good luck, I'm in Amityville, but tutor in Massapequa so if I hear of anything I can def let you know
