Re: being induced..anyone else??
I was induced at 38wks. I was 3cm and 90% effaced. I only had Pitocin. I did get an epidural, but it didn't work. The induction itself was no problem. I started the induction at 9am and had the babies at 11:35 and 11:38pm. I starred pushing at 8:30, so 3hrs was tough! But, that was because DS was sunny side up and got stuck. That is really what caused all of the pain. You will be fine. Just go in with an open mind, and try to keep calm.

Re: being induced..anyone else??
I had a successful induction and would do it again.
I was induced at 40w4d. I was over 1cm dilated and only needed pitocin as well.
I delivered DS about 13 hrs later vaginally.

Re: being induced..anyone else??
i had 3 successful inductions. 2 with cervadil and pitocin and one with only pitocin.
My best advice for you is to be your biggest advocate and tell them how you feel, what you want, what you don't want, etc.
DD#1- induced at 38.5 weeks- cervadil takes 12 hours. got pitocin at 9 am and she was born by 11 am.
DD#2- cervadil for 12 hours. then it took them 6 hours to move me to another room for the pitocin, and i finally got the pitocin about 8 hours later. Had my DD 4 hours after the pitocin started
DD#3- only pitocin- 11 hours later had my DD
With all 3- they were born in under an hour after my water broke.
Good Luck

Re: being induced..anyone else??
I was induced exactly at 40 weeks. I went in only a fingertip dilated. I went in at 7pm. They did one round of cervidil starting at 9 and left it in overnight until 9am the next day. I started having contractions from the cervidil a half hour after they put it in. They came every 2 mins, it was torture. After the cervidil they started the pitocin. At 3:30 I started pushing, they said I was an awesome pusher but every time I pushed DS heart rate went down. They let me try a few more times but then decided that it was too risky and I had an emergency c-section. It wasn't the induction that caused me to have the c-section though, it was because of DS head lol. It got stuck in the birth canal, he has a huge head.

Re: being induced..anyone else??
I was induced at 40 weeks, I was 4cm dilated and 90% effaced. I only need Pitocin, I had the pitocin at 6pm and DD was born at 10:01pm. I pushed for 35 minutes. It was really a very easy and positive experience. If I was in the same situation again I'd do it without a doubt.
Only tip is I wasn't expecting to be induced (I went to the hospital because of some bleeding and thought my water broke) and didn't eat much that day. I was starving before I even started labor. I wish I had ate something small right before I went to the hospital.

Re: being induced..anyone else??
I was induced at 40 weeks (on my due date actually; my doctors wouldnt let me go late due to high blood pressure).
I had a successful induction and good experience. I was effaced. I can't remember how much but I didn't need Cervidil. I was 2 cm prior to my induction. I was given pitocin at 9 am and by 4pm my dd was here. It was a fairly quick labor. I was really trying for a natural birth but at 7 cm I got the epidural. I couldn't deal with the pain any longer. Unfortunately that was great for me but not the baby. Her heart rate was dropping quickly. If I didn't dilate and push her out as quickly as I did I would have ended up with an emergency c section. I was so happy that I was able to deliver vaginally. Overall the induction was quick and successful.

Re: being induced..anyone else??
I got induced at 40w6d...I too was scared as hell! I just think it is soo different for everyone - depends on your body and how ready it is.
My story was this - 2cm dilated & 80% effaced so did not need cervadil - just pitosin. Got started on pitosin at around 9am....was in labor all day. Got epidural around 3cm - get it early before you feel the pain! Unfortunately I got sick from the epdiural and literally puked all day...slept most of the day in between pukes! Started pushing around 9:30pm...DD arrived at 10:52pm so 1.5 hrs of pushing.
Everyone is different - my SIL was induced as well by same dr...her body just was not ever going to progress...she never dilated after being on pitosin for long time...she ended up needed a c-section. The baby just wasn't moving down the birth canal for her...seems she would have ended up wtih a c-section no matter what.
Best of luck to you and try not to be too nervous! You'll do great!

Re: being induced..anyone else??
I was induced with #1 & 2. With #1- Got cervidil at 12 am 12/19 at 1 cm. Started pitocin about 10-11 am broke my water about 2 pm. At 7 pm I was 7 cm, at 720 I was 10 and started pushing. had dd at 729 pm. Pushed for 9 minutes.
with #2 (just had him Thurs) Labor was FAST. Here's the short story.
Started pitocin at 10.-still 2-3 cm Broke water at 1130-still 2-3 cm. Got epi at 145 - 4 cm.
By 4 pm had the feeling in my butt and thought my epi was wearing off because I could feel everything on my left side but not my right. 405- pain was really bad, felt like i had to poop. Dr checked me, I was only 7-8 cm and she said I can't push only 1 side of my cervix was ready. She turned me on my side. Pain turned to pressure and pain and I really had to push so dr came back in ad checked me at 410 and I was 10 cm and pushing-his head was basically poking out. Pushed for 6 minutes and ds was here.

Re: being induced..anyone else??
I was induced at 41wks. I was already dialated (2cm I think) so I only need Pitocin.
8AM Pitocin 1PM asked for EPI 8PM pushed 8:45 DS came out
ETA: It took them two tries to get the EPI in. It was uncomfortable but the contractions were much worse. My relief was short lived, the EPI fell out. They came back and put it back in but I felt very little relief. I actually used visualization techniques to deal with the pain, I just put my mind else where. All I wanted to do was push but it took a while before they let me. I think the pain motivated me to push him out pretty quickly. Pushing actually felt good. No pain with that. Episiotomy wasn't bad, getting stitched up hurt because the EPI didn't work so I felt EVERYTHING. I was holding my baby at that point so that was helping distract me. My experience with the EPI was not typical, most people don't feel a thing. I think I just got a really suck anesthesiologist.
