Had a midwife appt-she said to wait on induction until next week
Ahhhh, I feel so much better. I was so rattled by the sono docs reco of an induction next week, especially after hearing all of the stories of failed inductions that end in C-sections. I am happy to say I feel SO much better today after my appt.
For anyone who uses the Stony Brook Midwives, you know that Marie Frey is one of the sweetest, most nurturing midwives out there. And she saw me a lot when I was pg with DD and a few shifts of my crazy long labor with DD She told me today that I can think about the induction, relax for the weekend and revisit the idea next week. She said they would give me an internal before deciding if I was a good candidate and wouldn't even risk me laboring forever only to end in a c-section if they could avoid it. She was so reassuring and told me not to stress, but go and enjoy some time with DH So Monday is our anniversary and we are going to celebrate!

Glad she eased your mind!
Can you tell me more about them? Are they are part of Stony Brook Hospital?

I love Marie, she delivered my second son and is awesome. I haven't been following your story, so I don't know why an induction was originally suggested, but I am so happy to hear Marie's response.
With my son my water broke before contractions and I was GBS+, so she told me she "had to suggest pitocin" but she was completely cool and supportive when I said "not just yet." I went into labor on my own and had a quick and easy delivery with no drugs!! I know most OBs would have tried to force pitocin even though it was totally unnecessary in my case.
Best of luck to you!
ETA: To the poster who was wondering about Stony Brook Midwives, they are a group midwifery practice with several office locations throughout Suffolk County. They deliver at Stony Brook and are totally awesome! Here's their website: Stony Brook Midwives

The more I read about SBM the more I'm thinking of seeing them for #2

I would say go for it. They are the most supportive group of women I have ever encountered and they have your best interest in mind.
My first pg I was GBS+ and had high blood pressure so when my water broke at home, I had to go in. BUT, they tried to get me ready with Cervadil before they used Pitociin and they knew I was trying for a drug free birth but when I labored for SO long with no progress, they were honest and told me that an epi would allow me a vaginal birth and not a c-section. I was SO sad about my labor but they cheered me on and encouraged me and in the end they told me that the next one would be better

I have been going for weekly sonos to monitor dilated kidneys. Dr. Quirk suggested induction because he said it will be easier to assess the problem and observe once the baby is out. Marie told me think about it as my fluid level is still good and there is no danger to the baby.
Overall, I felt good knowing that I will get an internal next week and they will NOT induce me if there is the slightest chance I am not a good candidate. Marie DID say if I am partially effaced and somewhat dilated, an induction would be easy and somewhat quick, but they won't take a chance unless I am really ready for it.
I just appreciate their honesty and I know that overall there is not a single one of those women in that group who would push me to do something just to get the baby out and be on their way. They all want the best for their patients!
