Question about D&C
I just found out that I miscarried, Pregnancy stopped progressing last week and unless my body does it on its own (which I guess isn't likely?), I have to have a D&C. Can any of you ladies give any info? Can I pick up my boys (have a 3yo & a 27lb 1yo)? How long do I need to be off from work? Things of that nature. TIA and to you all

Re: Question about D&C
I took off the next day because i didnt know what it would be like for me... honestly it was painless except for when i first woke up... i had some minor cramping... the nurse gave me a tylenol and i was fine, physically... i didnt actually need to take off other than the fact that i had taken a few tylenol pms at around 8pm and i would have had trouble getting up for work the next day... so it turned out to be better that i took the day...
i dont know about picking up the kids... i would definitely ask your Dr about that...

Re: Question about D&C
I am so sorry for your loss
I had a D&C the friday of memorial weekend. I took it easy for the weekend but I did pick up our 22 month old. I did take it pretty easy though. DH had to go away for the day that monday and I was by myself with the kids and we did fine. Physically I felt fine even though I did have bad cramping the first night but that was it. Emotionally I was a basket case and definitely needed DH to step in and amuse the kids so you might need help on that level.
good luck to you and again I am so sorry

Re: Question about D&C
I'm so sorry for your loss.
I had a D+C on a Friday. My parents came to watch the boys. The procedure itself wasn't bad---I didn't like having to go to the hospital to have it done, but it is what it is. I got to the hospital at 6am and was in my house before 10am. They knocked me out but I woke up without any pain. I didn't lift my boys (around 20 lbs each) that day at all. I popped some Tylenol, had some cramping, but it wasn't too bad. Saturday I started lifting/ playing w/ the kids again. On Sunday, my parents left and of course I had bad cramping that day (probably no worse than bad AF cramps). I went to work on Monday w/out any issues. I chose to have the D+C bc I wasn't sure if my body would miscarry on my own. Found out about miscarriage on Monday; D+C was 4 days later. It's really a personal decision but doe mw I just wanted to get it over with. HTH! Please feel free to FM me if u have any questions.
