HPTs and faint postives
Should the 2nd line of a HPT get darker and darker as the pregnancy goes on, or does it depend on other outside variables like FMU vs not, different types of tests, etc.
I am freaking a little b/c although the two tests I took last week were def BFP (one was a digi the other was a cheapie w/ a semi faint line). AF was due this weekend.
Happen to be at OBGYN office for annual, and they also tested me and said line was VERY FAINT, but blamed it on fact that its so early.
So now I'm just worried b/c I have no symptoms at all, and am wondering if this is going to turn into a chemical??
Should I buy some more tests and see if the line gets darker this week?
1st sono is 3 weeks away...torturing myself already...

Re: HPTs and faint postives
I hope it is not the case for you, but with my bfp last month, i tested like crazy and the hpt lines got darker at first, then started to get lighter. Unfortunately for me, I did have a chemical. I hope it was just a less sensitive test at your doctor's office and all is well with you.

How long after your 1st BFP did you have the chemical? What CD were you on, or how many DPO?

I started to bleed a week after my bfp, at 17 dpo.

is your doctor running bloodwork? the only way to really know if it's a chemical is by monitoring your beta numbers. if you are nervous about waiting the 3 weeks, maybe you can ask them to run betas.

Re: HPTs and faint postives
I was testing very early. I tested for a few days in a row and ALL tests were faint positives. The tests never got darker.
I'm 38 weeks now.
I know it's hard... but try to just keep calm about it. I hope it all works out. Good Luck!!

Yes, I agree with this too. With the bloodwork monitoring, you'll know what's really going on.

I did and it came out positive. I have two more non digis at home that I may try this week. It is soo early - I'm really just a day or two late as of today, so even at the Dr on Saturday, I was barely late.
Ugh, I will hold off, and if I can't talk myself down from my ledge, I will call to see if they can run Bloodwork.
Thanks ladies!

Re: HPTs and faint postives
Crashing, but wanted to share.
I got + at home on a dollar store test and on a digital. Went to the OB to confirm. Their test said NEGATIVE!!!
I was like, well I know for sure I had positives at home.
They told me their tests are less sensitive and usually don't show a clear + until you're like 5 days past your period due date.
I had bloodwork done and sure enough I was SOOOO very early pregnant.
I went on to have my wonderful DS Hopefully that puts your mind at ease a bit!

Thank you so much for this. I am glad to hear your success story. My OB did mention their tests may less sensitive - I almost asked to see the test!
I tested again w/ a cheapie and got a very strong postive, so I'm feeling better. Let's see if I can hold off for 3 weeks!

Re: HPTs and faint postives
With my DD, my tests kept getting darker and darker and the BFP would pop up right away. The three times where I ended up miscarrying, the tests stayed really faint or got darker at a verrrrrrrrry slow rate due to the fact my betas weren't rising appropriately. It's different for everyone but, for me, the faint BFP's were a sign something wasn't right with the pregnancy from early on.
