Any of you godparents?
My oldest friend asked me to be her child's godmother....
And I cried. I feel so honored. 
Tell me what you wore, what you gave for a gift, anything please!

It was winter, so I wore a sweater and a long skirt. I bought her christening dress (with her mom's OK) and gave money.

I am godmother to my niece and one of my twin nephews, my DH is godfather for the other nephew.
We bought them all their Christening outfits and gave them money.

i'm godmother to my niece.
it was spring so i wore pants & a blouse.
i gave her 1st cross - gold & pearls. the christening outfit she wore was the same that my sisters and i wore.

I'm godmother to my niece and I cried as well. I knew I was going to be her godmother, but that is still a huge honor.
I bought her christening dress and the accesories, her first gold cross, money, and a christening bear.
She was christened in August so I bought a nice summery dress.

I am godmother to my nephew. For his Christening, I bought his outfit and gave him a check. I just wore a dress. Nothing fancy but not too casual either.

I'm not, but DH is. It was in the fall-the Godmother wore a long sleeved wrap dress.
We wrote a check & bought a fancy stuffed animal that they had registered for.

It was in the summer, so I wore a sleeveless, knee-length dress with a big flower print that had a v-neck (high enough neckline to be modest in church though) and strappy sandals. We got her a gold cross and a savings bond.

Just yesterday DH and I became my nieces godparents. It was beautiful
I wore a church appropriate summer dress and high heels. We bought my niece her clothes for the day, a cross necklace and 100 bucks

congratulations!!! You are going to be SUCH A GOOD godmother!!! You are going to totally spoil that child, aren't you =)
Its typical for the god parents buy the cross & god mother the dress...I gave my niece & nephew $. I think b/c my mother bought a cross, I cannot remember. And my god daughter wore the same dress my sister, brother & I wore (which was made from my mother's wedding gown) which is a tradition, so no need to buy the dress.
Money is fine... But I would get her some kind of special keepsake as well. I just KNOW you are going to spoil this child

Congrats...it really is an amazing honor! DH & I actually just got asked to be the Godparents for his cousin's adopted son. He is 16 yrs old and apparently asked for us specifically.
I am also the Godmother for my nephew. He was baptized in March and I believe I wore a black sleeveless dress w/ a sweater over it.

I'm my first nephew's Godmother...i cried too when my brother asked me. That was 12 years ago...i remember making him a toybox and getting him a child's bible.
My friend in Australia just asked me to be her son's Godmother also...I couldn't be there for the church or anything, but i sent a Precious Moment's cross (my friend loves all Precious Moments) and some american cash.

DH and I are Godparents to my BFF's daughter, she is now 17. For the christening we bought the outfit and gave $.
She is more than that to us, she is the child we didn't get to have and we are very blessed my BFF has shared her with us.

I am godmother to my nephew, I got him his christening attire and a gold cross and chain. it was in the summer, wore summer dress!

I'm 'co-godmother' to one of my nephews and one of my neices.
I think my sisters felt bad about not having me be a godmother, so they shoved me up there as a 'co'. But I didn't care. Especially since I'm an athiest. 
I look at it that I'm a role model and support for the child to research and choose whichever religion (or not) that they think is best for them.
That's interesting, same thing with my nephew. The other co-godmother hasn't been around for oh, 17 of his 18 years. I chat with and see him all the time.
Just goes to show ya...!

Godmother to my niece.
She wore the christening outfit that has been in our family for 90 years, so I couldn't buy that, but I did buy her the first cross and a bracelet.
For her first holy communion I bought her a diamond cross.
Her christening was in the late fall, so I wore dress trousers and a blouse.

I'm godmother to two of my nephews and yes I was very honored to be asked both times.
I wore dresses to both christenings. Nothing revealing, pretty conservative but within my tastes and age appropriate. Classy (like those cats in Westchester )
What I gave for my first nephew - I bought his christening gown and gave a cash gift.
For my other nephew I just gave cash. It was more of a dicey situation with the family so I took a major back seat, but that's not normally how I am.
Other gift ideas: A cross or crucifix, jewelry of any kind- i bought my niece a charm bracelet that I (intended but never seem to remember) to get charms for for other special occasions. I also got her birthstone jewelry.
