Did anyone not ever get their period PP? (I need advice, please.)
I'm 6 months PP next week and still no sign of AF. I was irregular before I got pregnant, but I've heard that sometimes pregnancy can regulate you. To be honest, I'm scared and not sure whether I should be or not.
I tried to BF but never got a milk supply. I did nurse and pump around the clock for the first 6 weeks until the doctors and LCs said it was likely a hormonal problem and I couldn't create a milk supply from nothing. I don't even know if that counts as my having BFing. DD is completely FF because of this failure.
I don't know if these issues are related or what. My OB said to call if I don't get AF by the end of this month, which is rapidly approaching. What in the world can they do? U/S? See if there are cysts? Check the thickness of the lining? ::sigh::
I'm sad and scared and don't want to be stressing this. Should I just keep waiting or start being proactive? We definitely want another child someday, maybe in a year or two, so I feel like ignoring this possible problem would be a bad idea.
Any advice would be much appreciated. TIA

They will likely give you provera to induce a period and then go from there.
I only get my period a couple times a year without inducing it but I have known issues (PCOS).

I wouldn't stress about it yet...it seems a little too soon to worry, especially since you were irregular prior to getting pregnant.
I was also irregular prior to pregnancy, and regular post pregnancy. But I BF, so I went 6 months with #1 and 1yr with #2 without getting it.
When I was TTC and irregular, they gave me a prescription for Provera to try to regulate. I wound up not taking it (because I got pregnant), but that may be their first step with you if needed.

Just like the other girls are saying, I too was irregular before my pregnancy (PCOS) and after my DD was born it was like 9 months and I hadn't gotten it also, and I didn't BF either. They gave me provera....that helped, but didn't cure it...it ended up my thyroid was under-active so that was the biggest reason I wasn't getting it at all....once I started the medication and then I happen to lose alot of weight and now I dont even need provera, I get it on my own and so far my PCOS is not even an issue anymore....def. have blood work done b/c pregnancy changes your body and your thyroid or vitamin levels could be off. GL and try not to stress... I should add that I also take Metformin 2x a day due to the PCOS but the endocronlogist says once I lose the rest of the weight I want to, she will then stop that medication...I hope my AF comes on time and regular without the Metformin too....

Re: Did anyone not ever get their period PP? (I need advice, please.)
I was given provera 3 years ago when I first went off BC to get my period. I ended up taking it 2x (each time after I didn't get AF for 3 months) total. Hormones scare me, but I guess it worked. I never did get a regular cycle, but managed to get pregnant on my own (no meds, nothing) after only 4 months (2 cycles) of trying. I seriously still think it's a miracle.
Do you think the 6 weeks I nursed and pumped "count" as far as delaying my period?
Thank you so much ladies for your advice. I'll call my OB and if he tries to give me a prescription over the phone (which he sometimes does) I'll ask for an appointment or a referral to someone who will take a little more care of me and do bloodwork and u/s to make sure there are no deficiencies and/or cysts.
I'll try not to worry about it, but I am also going to be more proactive as far as learning what's going on inside me instead of just hoping for the best.

Re: Did anyone not ever get their period PP? (I need advice, please.)
I dont post much - i am more of a searcher for advise on how to handle different things that pop up with my DC's - but had to reply to your post.
with both of my DC's (now 3.5 and 19 months), I didnt get AF back PP until I went in for my 1 year check up. My OB just put me back on the regular pill both times (was on the mini pill for the first year after having each child). there were no issues, my hormones just needed a kick start, and the pill did it for me.
the first time it happened it was nerve wracking, but just wanted you to hear that maybe there is nothing "wrong". good luck!

Re: Did anyone not ever get their period PP? (I need advice, please.)
Hi Im 7m PP and still no AF. I havent seen my ob yet, but I'm not stressing it quite yet either. I also had a VERY irregular cycle, to the point where a former ob told me I would probably have trouble conceiving.. I EBF through the first 5-6m but have now cut down to bf 2x/day. I've heard bf is a factor but since I've cut down I still have no signs. I'm sure we're fine ;) good luck!

Similar to you, I tried to BF but wasn't too successful with it at all unfortunately. I didn't get AF until 6 months pp.
