Feeling so lost

My brother passed away 4 weeks ago, I feel so sad all the time. I cry out of no place. No joke I can be having a fine day and out of the blue bam I see something or a thought pops into my head and the water works dont stop! I try and stay strong for my parents or siblings and even around my kids but I just feel so empty inside. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Feeling so lost

My heart aches for you. I am so sorry. I lost my brother about 8 yrs ago. I can understand what you are describing. I remember that VERY well. The grief process is a very tricky thing. I'm here if you need to chat.

Re: Feeling so lost

I dont know what your personal beliefs are. Here are mine: they don't leave us. Our siblings / family / friends will always be w/us. I honestly have no doubt that there is a Heaven. I believe they can see us, know what we are going through. **Think the movie Ghost and any other movie where someone dies and comes back.

I can "feel" him with me at times. It took some time to get to that point b/c I was so immersed in my own grief. I had a TON and I mean a TON of guilt after my brother passed. I felt that it should of been me. I reviewed and reviewed all the mistakes I made in our relationship. All the times I chose to be some where other than w/him. I drove myself nutty. Finally my therapist suggested that I talked to my brother. So I started doing that, of course whenever I was alone. Eight years later I still talk to him. It gave me a sense of security, an ability to get things off my chest. I've actually yelled "at him" for leaving and things other things I never had the chance to get off my chest while he was still physically here.

This process is different for all of us. Grief was once described to me like a snowflake for each person. You could skip cycles in the grief process and go back to cycles you have already been through 5 times before. I found it depends on what I am going through at that particular time in my life. Good Luck, like I said I'm here.

Re: Feeling so lost

I do believe he is here with us, I was driving the other day on the LIE and I said Dean send me a sign that you can hear us!? Within a min, as I was driving I saw a yankee hat sitting on the road in between the lanes. Some may say it flew off someones head but I wanna believe it was him showing me a sign that he is w. us in spirit even if hes not here with us in life any longer. I just miss him so much and I never got a chance to tell him bc I was so angry that I knew drugs were back in his life. I would try and talk to him at times before he passed and he just had a bad attitudude at times other times he was so open to talking. 23 yrs old is just to young to leave this world. A parent shouldnt ever have to bury their child and it breaks my heart that my parents had too! Chat Icon

Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon I wish I could say something to make it better...my brother died suddenly 2 years ago at the age of 25 and sometimes I still cry out of no where. It does get a bit easier with time. I believe that my brother is watching over my family.
